Page 8-B Letter To The Editor Letter to the Editor: I want to let the readers of this newspaper know just how blessed they are to have Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Barham of Williford* Barham Funeral Home in this area. My family and I recently went through the deep sorrow of losing our beloved Mother. Until then, I had never really given much thought to morticians. I just figured that somebody had to do the job. But now after experiencing the last few days, I firmly believe that mortunann are called to their work just as much as pastors are called to preach. I now know that it takes a very special kind of person to do this work well. And Mr. Barham is a perfect example of this. He does what has to be done with dignity, respect, com passion, and love. Recently there has been a lot of talk about how un dertakers take advantage of people in their sorrow by persuading them to spend more than they can really afford. I feel it is time that someone spoke up for the honest ones. Never in any way whatsoever did Mr. Barham try to talk us into anything. He simply showed us what he had, then stood back, and let us make our choice. Until circumstances required us to call on their service, I had never met either him or his wife. But I found both of them to be extremely thoughtful and understanding. Each time any of us visited the funeral home, one or the other was always there to say a comforting word or to put their arm around us. Only one that has suffered a loss can know how much this means at a time like this. Things like this are done not from duty but from love for your fellowman. As long as I live, I shall never forget what| a comfort they v/ere to me >when I . was agoing . through the most difficult time of my life. The memory of their kindness shall always remain with me. I am sorry that we had to meet under such cir cumstances, but I am proud to know Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Barham. Sincerely, V. Faye Ober P.O. Box 45 Eliz.
