Page 2-A Recreation Scoreboard The Edenton-Chowan Recreation Department will he offering banning tennis lessons starting July Ist and sth. If you are interested in taking lessons, you are to report on either of these days to sign up at the tennis courts. Classes for ages 8 to 16 are to begin at 9:00 A.M. Classes for ages 16 and up will be held at 10:30 A.M. Please report to the tennis courts on either of these given days at the specified times to receive further information. If you have any questions, please contact the Edenton-Chowan Recreation Department (482-8596). The Edenton • Chowan Recreation Department in cooperation with the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library will have have a story hour every Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 P.M. in the Edenton - National Guard Armory. All interested children are invited to at tend Arts and Crafts classes are being held in the Ar mory on Tuesdays, 2:00-3:00 P.M. for ages 5-9 and on Thursdays, 2:00 - 3:30 P.M. for ages 10-15. All interested children are urged to attend. There is no charge for these classes. A few openings still remain in the second session swimming lessons to begin July 5 at Sandy Point Beach. The beginners classes are for ages 6-12. Come by the Edenton-Chowan Rec reation Department in the Armory to sign up. Gillam, 111, of Windsor a student at Appalachian State University, is among 53 students to receive an honor teaching award for spring semester. The award, which goes to approximately 10 per cent of the student teachers from the university each semester, becomes part of his permanent record. Gillam, a senior American History major, spent the semester at Johnson County High School working with supervising teacher Mrs. Mary Ward. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Gillam, Jr., 210 W. Gray Street, Windsor. A half cup of ammonia and an eighth of a cup of vinegar added to a quart of warm water makes a solution that is excellent for windows without leaving film or streaks.
