M Peoples Bank Earnings Up 5.8 Per Cent ROCKY MOUNT— Peoples Bank and Trust Company has reported that earnings for the period ending September 30, 1977, were $2,003,000 compared to $1,893,000 earned during the same period last year, an increase of 5.8 per cent. On a per share basis, this amounted to $2.52 compared to $2.39 per share reported in 1976. Income before security transactions was $1,978,000 or $2.49 per share compared to $1,854,000 or $2.34 per share, an increase of 6.7 per cent. Total assets increased to $284.3-million compared to $264.8-million in 1976, an increase of 7.4 per cent. Gross loans for the period rose to $158.1-million compared to $155.5-million reported last year, an in crease of 19 per cent. Total deposits for the period rose to $256.6-million, a 7,8 per cent increase above the $238-million reported during the same period last year.
