Page 12-B M JK/r L Frank E. Cox Frank E. Cox Asst. Cashier ELIZABETH CITY— Frank E. Cox has been named assistant cashier in the Consumer Credit Department of Peoples Bank and Trust Company’s Elizabeth City office, it was announced by Senior Vice President Jackson B. Harris, Jr. A native of Edenton, Cox graduated from John A. Holmes High School and attended Elizabeth City State University. He joined Peoples Bank’s Edenton staff in 1973 where he served as a field representative in the Consumer Credit Department. Prior to assuming his new position in the Elizabeth City branch, Cox served as Installment loan Manager of the bank’s Scotland Neck, office. He is married to the former Toni Smith of Edenton, and they have two children: Toni, age six and Bonnie, age three. Long Illness Proves Fatal To Mr. Layton Less Graham Layton, Route 3, Edenton, died Thursday of last week in Chowan Hospital following an extended illness. He was 78 and a retired farmer. Mr. Layton was a native of Chowan County. He was the son of the late William G. and Martha White Layton and the husband of Mrs. Lillie Dail Layton. In addition to his wife, surviving are two brothers: Worth and Jepp Layton, both of Edenton; and a sister, Mrs. Charlie Boyce of Edenton. He was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church where funeral services were held at 3 P.M Saturday with Rev. Larry McClure of ficiating. Burial was in the Layton Family Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Lewis Bunch, Sherlon and Kermit Layton, Howard Polston, Carl Forehand and Sanford Bass. BPW Sponsoring Candidate Meet The Hertford Business and Professional Women’s Club will sponsor a “Meet Your Candidate” meeting on April 12 at 7:30 P.M. in the Perquimans County Courthouse. The purpose of this bi partisan, public meeting is to allow the local people to be better informed as to who the candidates are, their reason for seeking office and their stand on important issues. Invitations have been sent to 31 candidates seeking election or re-election on a local, district and state lev el. Practically all have ac cepted the invitation to be present or to have a representative speak for them. Mrs. Bonnie White, club president, emphasizes how important it is for each voter to be present to meet these candidates, to talk with them and then to be able to cast a more intelligent vote in the election. Other than local candi dates, those running for the U.S. Senate and for the N.C. General Assembly from this district are expected to be present. The public is invited to attend.
