JACKSON Thomas E.
Newsome, 59, of Jackson,
and brother of Mrs. Ruth
Israel of Eden ton, died
Sunday.
A native of Northampton
County, he was the husband
of Mrs. Virginia L.
Newsome and was a
member of Jackson Baptist
Church. He was a carpenter
and an Army veteran of
World War H.
Other survivors include
one son, Larry T. Newsome
of Rich Square; one
daughter, Miss Pamela
Newsome of Raleigh; four
other sisters: Mrs. Bessie
Lassiter of Woodland; Mrs.
Edna Jernigap of Lewiston;
Mrs. Olive Hardison of
Aulander; and Mrs. Eva
Harrington of Portsmouth;
one brother, Cecil Newsome
of Woodland and two
grandchildren.

Tuesday at M A.M. in
Jackson Baptist Church by
Bev. Joe McLean. Burial

WOODY ALLEN COMEDY “Don’t Drink The Water”, a comedy written by Woody
Allen, will be presented by the John A. Holmes High School Drama Club, May 11-13. Taking
place in an American embassy in a communist country, the (dot involves an American
caterer and his wife who are suspected of being spies. Above is a scene from the play in
which a Catholic priest, who practices magic, finds his stunt rabbit about to become the
main course for supper. Tickets may be purchased from any drama student. Admission is
$2.50.

whenever he leaves his

Ambassador MaGee,
portrayed by Luke Amburn,
has to leave the Embassy to
his son Axel.
Axel MaGee is the main
character of the play. He
has had several jobs in other
embassies none lasting over
two weeks. He is a real
klutz. Bobby Dail portrays
Axel.
Nell White plays Kilroy,
Ambassador MaGee’s
secretary. She is a level
headed person. The
Hollander family, Walter,
Marion, and daughter
Susan, become trapped in
the Embassy. Mark
Chilcoat is Walter,
Elizabeth Stevens is
Marion, and Bond is
Susan. Leon Rouson plays
Krojack, a hot tempered
Communist policeman
determined to kill Walter
Hollander.
Rhonda Kirby plays
Burns who is Kilroy’s
assistant. She does the little
picky jobs. The chef is a
temperamental little old
lady who thinks there is
nothing more important
than cooking. This little old
lady is Jill Stutzman.
The Sultan of Bashir
comes to visit while the
Ambassador is a wav. He
