Dr. Robert E. Gray,

Church, will use at the 11
o’clock morning worship on
Sunday the topic “The
Glorious Hope.” Scriptural
text will be Romans 8:18-25.
The Sancturary Choir will
render the anthem, “The
Lord Is a Mighty God”,
during the morning service.
At the 7:30 evening
worship, Dr. Gray will
speak on “Do Not Be
Afraid”, with Acts 18:1-17 as
his text.

at the Chowan Academy of

Wajciechowski of the
Tidewater Ballet will
perform the roles of King
and Queen in the Elizabeth
City Academy of Ballet’s
production of Sleeping
Beauty.
Guests artists for the
performance will be
professional members of the
Tidewater Ballet (formally
the Norfolk Ballet). Miss
Patti Sawyer of Elizabeth
City will dance the role of
Sleeping Beauty and will
participate in the N.C.
Governor’s School at
Winston-Salem this sum
mer.
The ballet is sponsored by
the Elizabeth City
Jaycettes; proceeds will be
used for Jaycette civic
donation funds. Per
formance will be May 6th at
8 o’clock at the S.L. Sheep
Auditorium in Elizabeth
City. Tickets are $3 for
adults and $2 for children
and can be obtained at the
door.

NORFOLK, Va.—Leroy
Edward Ashley, 66, 8920
Plymouth Avenue, died
Saturday in his home.
A native of Edenton, he
was the brother of Raleigh
Ashley, of Tyner and E.D.
Ashley, Jr., Route 3
Edenton. He was a retired
automobile painter and a
Baptist.
Other survivors include
his wife, Mrs. Gertrude
Boothe Ashley; a son,
Douglas L. Ashley pf Nor
folk; three sisters; Mrs.
Berda Mae Hornsby and
Mrs. Delia A. Byrum of
Seaford; and Mrs. Grace A.
Boyce of Portsmouth; two
other brothers; Hurley
Ashley and Willie Ashley of
Suffolk, Va.; and a grand
daughter.
A funeral was held
Wecbesday at 2:30 P.M. in
the Meadowfarook Memorial
Gardens.

Methodist Church of
Tallahassee.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father.
Miss Meg Whigham,
sister of the bride, was maid '

Bridesmaids were Miss
Lisa Lee of Birmingham,
Ala.; and Miss Lynn
McGarvey and Gail Gold
smith, Tallahassee. Flower
girl was Miss Jennifer

bride, was ringbearer.
Mr. James Haley of
Tallahassee was best man.

Following the ceremony
the parents of the bride
entertained at a reception in
the church fellowship hall.
The bride and groom are
both graduates of Florida
State University. After a
wedding trip to the
Bahamas the couple is at
home in Tallahassee. The
groom is employed with
Gayfer’s Department Store
in Tallahassee.
