Page 2-A Communications Seminar Are you and your family speaking to each other? The Chowan County Agricultural Extension Service invites you and your family members to par ticipate in one of three educational area programs conducted by Dr. Leo Hawkins, minister and human development specialist at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, who will speak on “Family Communications”. He has counseled many families in “Human Development and Related Areas.” The first educational area program will be held 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, June 10 at the Center Hill Community Building. Then at 2 and 7:30 on Wednesday, June 11, at the Municipal Building in Edenton. Leo F. Hawkins joined the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service at N. C. State University in 1966 as family relations specialist. A native of Charlotte, Hawkins attended Lowell and Gastonia high schools. He received his bachelor of arts degree at Wake Forest University, a master of divinity degree from Yale University Divinity School, and a doctorate in adult and community college education from N. C. State University. His graduate program included a minor in child development and family relations at UNC Greensboro. Before joining the Ex tension Service, Hawkins served as as general hospital chaplain, and was pastor of Baptist churches in Norwood, Southport, and Chadboum, North Carolina. CHOWAN COUNTY PUBLIC BUDGET HEARING The tentative budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1980, was presented to the Chowan County Board of Commissioners on June 2, 1980, and is available for public inspection in the office of the County Manager and in the office of the Clerk to the Board, new Courthouse. A public hearing will be held at 9:00 A. M. on June 16 in the Conference Room, 4th floor County Office Building, at which time any persons who wish to be heard on the budget may appear. Homecoming The Annual Homecoming services will be observed June 8, 1980 at St. Mark A. M. E. Zion Church. The speaker for the 11 o’clock service will be Evanglist Lonnie C. Harris, Jr. Brooklyn, N. Y. He is a member of Tabernacle Prayer for All People, Jamaica, N. Y. He is also a former of St. Mark Church and the son of the late Lonnie C. Harris, Sr. and Mrs. Odessa C. Harris of Creswell. At 3:00 Rev James Sawyer, Choir and member of Hood Temple A. M. E. Zion Church, Jamesvill, will be guest speaker. Ther pastor extends a special invitation to the public to attend the services.
