The Bandon Notebook: Spiritual Refueling
Rv Maggie B.
Hi NEIGHBORS! Following
much needed rain Friday and
Saturday, the Lord’s Day
dawned clear, brisk and
beautiful! Just right for God’s
people to enter the church of
their choice to thank Him for
our countless blessings. The
fine group gathered for Sunday
School at Bandon Chapel were
warmly welcomed by Supt.
Meta Mason, especially Capt.
and Mrs. Ray Com ton of
Virginia Beach and many of our
members who were out of the
area last week.
She reported that our
missionaries, David and Linda
Smith were the proud parents of
a fine baby boy who weighed in
at 8 lbs. on September 25th! His
name is Anthony Jordan Smith.
Our congratulations are ex
tended to David, Linda and little
Becky.

You can best judge what a man will d 0...
by what he has done.
Theres really nothing magical about being elected to
public office. You're the same person, with the same back
ground and the same experiences the day after the elec
tion that you were the day before. So don’t let what people
say in a political campaign be the only reason you vote.

weeks ago. He now has to have
therapy for next eight months.
Because of the expense in

can stay with his grandmother.
Please pray that God will touch
him with His Healing Hand and
all signs of cancer will disap
pear. He and Janet have only
been married since June and

and his group.
"God’s Convenant and Ezra”,
Neh. 8 :3; 9:32-38, was the topic
for our adults, skillfully taught
by Wm. F. (Butch) Smith. Aim
was that adult believers
recognize that they need to take
time for a periodic confession
and renewal of their com
mitment to a covenant-keeping
God.
“Happy Birthday” was sung
by all in honor of Dave Lapham
as he placed his contribution in
our Birthday Bank. Dave seems
to get younger each year he
celebrates his birthday!
At our morning Worship
Service, the large group
assembled for a spiritual
refueling was welcomed by
Deacon Thomas H. Dilday, who
conducted the opening exer
cises and introduced our guest
minister. On this Lord’s Day,
we were honored to have Rev.

Rev. Compton looked upon
the fine congregation and said
“It’s a glorious day to be in the

presence here”. Holding up his
Bible, he remarked, “I thank
you for giving me the op

Word of God. I believe this Holy
Book contains the Inspired
Word of God and it’s my con
viction that all of it is true and
that it was written down in
times past for the strengthening
and encouragement of the
saints of God so that we may be
equipped for every good work.
“I heard a statement long ago
that has stayed in my mind ever
since: ‘The New Testament is in
the Old Testament contained
and the Old Testament is in the
New Testament explained’. So,
we need to have a knowledge of
the whole Bible. He read
passages from the Old
Testament and the New
Testament and beautifully
explained the meaning con
tained in each. Scriptures were:
Jude 1:20-21; 1 John 4:7-8; Song
of Solomon, Gal. 5:16-23 and
John 15:1-17.
He concluded by giving us the
keys to bearing good fruit: 1)
God prunes fruit bearing
branches so they may bear
more fruit; 2) Secret of fruit
bearing is abiding in Christ; 3)
Secret of abiding is obeying; 4)
Secret of obeying is loving; and
5) Secret of loving is knowing
(vs. 15).
The love of God is set abroad
in our hearts that we might
walk more perfect before Him
each day as we yield our lives to
Him and let Him through His
