Page 2-B Letter To The Editor • Dear Editor, •. It is truly a pleasure to live in a county that produces such a fine community newspaper as you and your staff do. The holiday season is here and each of us play an im portant role in celebrating this event. There will be parties, family gatherings, Santa Claus, and many many happenings too numerous to mention. So many people including myself get so busy sometimes we forget to stop and think why we are really doing all of this. People young and old believe that if it wasn’t for Santa Claus there wouldn’t be any Christmas or joy that surrounds it. I agree, that if Santa wasn’t around some of the excitement would be gone! What I believe is not as important as facts I know. I know that Christ’s birth is our whole reason behind Christmas. In the second chapter of St. Luke it tells me that. An article title surprised me in your newspaper printed December 11, 1980. The heading was “Xmas Programs”. It told of various Christmas programs to be presented by different churches and groups throughout our county. In their musicals they will be telling of Christ’s birth, and how God sent his son to save the world. In closing, the point I would like to make is no matter what kind of hurry we are in today, or how many time-saving shortcuts we feel we need to make lets please not leave Christ out of Christmas. After all, if there had not been a savior’s birth, there would not be a Christmas. A very happy holiday to The Chowan Herald staff, and may the New Year bring rich blessings to each of you.
