What with both the i lawmakers and the lawbreakers trying to limit i their spending capacity, lob- I byists are having a hard time this year. I It was only a few days ago that Hep. Brad Ugon of Rowan introduced a bill to limit the amount of money lobbyists can spend entertaining legislators and then marched to the head of the buffet line at the next lob byist-sponsored receception. But the lawbreakers chose a more direct route. Thursday morning- when Mel Broughton, son of a former governor, who ’ represents several special interests before the legislature, parked his automobile in a lot near the new Civic Center, a gunman held him of his money and his pants. Broughton quoted the man as saying, “I’m going to take your money, then I’m goiig to kill Thursday, March 5, 1961 1 ■ W ■ ,»* you.” “He took my money and * threw my car keys into the - bushes,” Broughton said, * “and then demanded my pants, y Aftef he left, I had to scramble for my keys in my shorts.” f , The temperature was cooler Y| outside than reception by a* hostile committee inside.
