Page 2-B •wV y/VI Araoia A. Kakes Appointment Announced LEETOWN Arnold A. Rakes, formerly stationed at the Cohutta (Ga.) National Fish Hatchery and now assigned to the Edenton National Fish Hatchery in North Carolina, was among 15 fishery biologists to receive diplomas from the new Fisheries Academy at the National Fisheries Academy at Leetown, W. Va. The recent com mencement culminated nine months of intensive ad vanced schooling in all phases of fishery resources technology and management for the “select” trainees. Galen Buterbaugh, Associate Director-Fishery Resources, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in ad dressing the class, described the graduates as “now the best trained fish culturists anywhere”. The class was comprised of 12 USFWS biologists, a state fishery biologist, a college professor and a woman researcher from the Philippine Republic. Power Resolution Filed In Senate Sen. Melvin R. Daniels, Jr., D-Pasquotank and Sen. J. J. “Monk” Harrington, D- Bertie, today filed Senate Joint Resolution No. 693 calling on the General Assembly of North Carolina to utilize its resources to fully review and assess the concerns of the citizens of Northeastern North Carolina for economic, adequate, and reliable electric power for the northeastern counties of North Carolina. The resolution states that the Legislative Utility Review Committee shall prepare and present its findings along with recom mendations for legislation to the 1983 session. of the General Assembly. Senator Daniels stated that along with looking at the efficiency of the present provider, Virginia Electric and Power Company, he would also encourage the Utility Review Committee to monitor closely the progress of the peat generating capabilities.
