Nixon Gets
Promotion
The Board of Directors of
Branch Banking and Trust
Company meeting in Wilson
in June promoted John C.
Marlowe, 111, to assistant
vice president and Ralph W.
Nixon, Thurwood R.
Parrish, Joe A. Shearin and
Richard Young White to
assistant cashier. Kelly S.
King, senior vice president
and city executive, made
the announcement for the
Raleigh Office.
Nixon had several years
of experience in consumer
lending when he joined the
bank in 1979 and was named
manager of the Colony
Center Office.
He attended the
University of North
Carolina following
graduation from John
Holmes High School in
Edenton.
Nixon is a member of the
Exchange Club and is
prospects and evaluation
chairman of the Oc
coneechie Council of the Boy
Scouts of America.
Dale Family
Reunion Held
The family of the late
Rufus and Caroline Dale
held a family reunion at
Arrowhead Beach Club
House Sunday afternoon.
A covered dish luncheon
was served. Sixty people
attended the reunion.
A welcome speech was
given by Mrs. Jesse Dale,
after which prayer was led
by Jack Pollock of Virginia
Beach, Va.
Jesse Dale was
recognized as the oldest
member of the family.
Those attending the
reunion were Mr. and Mrs.
Jesse Dale of Chowan
Beach; Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Pollock and family of
Virginia Beach, Va.; Mr.
and Mrs. Marvin Lilly and
family of Suffolk. Va.; Mr.
and Mrs. Gerald Dale and
family of Suffolk, Va.; Mrs.
Doris Pickens of Virginia
Beach, Va.; Mr. and Mrs.
Edison Hobbs of
Chesapeake, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Bunch
and family of Edenton; Mr.
and Mrs. Wilbur Bunch of
Sandford; Mr. D. P. McLeod
of Suffolk. Va.; Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Proctor and
family of Hertford; Mr. and
Mrs. Eugene Byrum and
family of Belvidere; Mr.

Three Receive
Recognition
GREENSBORO Robin
L. Harrell, an elementary
education major, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S.
Harrell, Route 3, Edenton, is
one of 275 undergraduates at
the University of North
Carolina at Greensboro who
made all A’s on courses
completed during the spring
semester.
Altogether, two other
Edenton students attained
the dean’s list during the
spring semester. The other
students are: Margaret C.
Abbe, a child development
major, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Abbe, 111,
Route 2, Homiblow Point;
and Thelma Dianne Babb, a
home economics education
major, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Harold B. Babb. 204
