City Officials To Meet CHARLOTTE City officials from across North Carolina will gather here November 8-10 for the 72nd Annual Convention of the N. C. League of Municipal ities, looking for ways to bal ance tight budgets against shrinking revenues. The. convention is ex pected to draw about 1,600 municipal officials - from mayors and governing board members to depart ment heads - to the Civic Center for the two and one half days of workshops and speeches by state and national figures. Governor James B. Hunt, Jr., will speak to the delegates at the closing luncheon on November 10. The municipal officals also will be addressed by; Presidential Advisor for Intergovernmental Affairs, Steven Rhodes; New Orleans Mayor Ernest N. Morial, and spokesmen for several state agencies. At First Presbyterian Church Corners of West Queen and Mosley Prices Making Milk A Bargain Although there have been nominal price increases to dairy farmers for fluid milk dining the past year, milk is a better bargain today than ever before, the president of the N. C. Farm Bureau stated recently. According to John Sledge, a recent price survey in dicates that in four out of five major markets in the state, the predominant supermarket price for a gallon of milk is now less than a year ago. The four areas are Asheville, Charlotte, Sales Reported JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. reported sales of $481,276,000 during the four weeks ended October 14, 1981 comparted with $448,237,000 for the similar period last year, an increase of 7.4 per cent. For the 16 weeks ended October 14. the total was $1,946,632,000 compared with $1,810,946,000 a year ago, an increase of 7.5 per cent. The company opened six new stores and closed one since June 24, 1981, having 1,225 untis in operation as of October 14, compared with 1,205 last year. Greensboro and Winston- Salem. Sledge said the prevailing gallon milk price of $1.89 in the Charlotte area is how 14 cents less than a year ago. He said current prices in Asheville and Winston-Salem are 6 cents lowo*, while the Greensboro price is 12 cents lower than a year ago.
