Etter earned a bachelor’s 1 degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho and a master’s degree in engineering administration from George Washington University. He was com missioned a Second Lieutenant in June 1956 and since then has moved rapidly upward. Each promotion carried with it greater responsibility. Today, as commanding officer of the Naval Air Rework Facility, Etter is in charge of one of the largest industrial complexes in the state. He supervises over 3,200 civilian employees and implements a budget in excess of S2OO-million. He is the recipient of the “John Paul Jones Award for Inspirational Leadership,” and has been profiled in Jane’s Who’s Who in Aviation and Aerospace. Col. Etter’s personal decorations and awards include: 26 Strike Air Medals, the Joint Services Medal, the Navy Com mendation Medal with Combat “V”, the Navy Achievement Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation, the National Defense Ser vice Medal with One Bronze Star, the Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation with Palm, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. Etter is married to the former Patricia S. Partin, daughter of Jim Partin of Edenton. They have two children: Janet, a senior at ECU, and David, a student at Havelock High School. ' *' Z Summer School Os Gerontology To Be Held At UNC At Charlotte GREENVILLE - The first Greenville-Wheat, First Securities Junior Tennis Championship will be held in this city on July 15 - July 18, at the River Birch Tennis Center. The tournament has received the approval of the United States Tennis Association. Sponsored jointly by the Greenville Recreation and Parks Department, the Greenville Tennis Club, and Wheat, First Securities, Inc., member New York Stock Exchange and regional financial services firm, the tournament is expected to become an annual affair in this city. Play will be singles only with divisions for both boys and girls for twelve and under, fourteen and under, sixteen and under, and eighteen and under. Maximum number of players for each event will be thirty-two, and the minimum number will be eight.
