This spicy comedy takes i
place in a
office and involves the
murder of a sullen Spanish
chauffeur. The maid, who is
the prime suspect, was
found naked and un
conscious on the floor beside
the victim with the murder
weapon in her hand. After a
hilarious attempt at
questioning the girl, the
Magistrate, played by
Michael Reeve, brings in the
victim’s employer and his
arrogant wife for in
terrogation.
“A Shot in the Dark” is a
series of amusing im
plications, all of which add
up to an exciting climax and
a surprise ending that
leaves one wondering: does

THE CHOWAN HERALD
be,, wr doesn’t he? The
humour is bright and
slightly suggestive, and the
mystery keeps you trying to
guess “whodunit”.
Anne Dale plays the part
of the simple - minded yet
sensuous maid who is forced
to reveal her rather ad
venturous past. Anne and
Michael lead off a
tremendously good cast,
including John Becker,
Robert Dail, Penelope
Jones, Rhonda Kirby, and
Bill Pierce. The talent alone
makes this play well worth
seeing.
Admissions will be gained
at the door only on a first -
come, first - served basis;
reservations will not be
taken. The price, which has
yet to be firmly established,
wiU most likely be from $2 to
13.
For any further in
formation, please contact
the director, Penny Jones,
at 482 - 2230.
“A Shot in the Dark” is a
three - act play, produced by
special arrangement with
Samuel French, In
corporated, of New York.

Bus Drivers Banquet Held At Walker
Marvin Brewington,
Personnel Director of North
Carolina Division of Motor
Vehicles, was the guest
speaker at the Bus Driven
Banquet held May 19 at D.F.
Walker School’s cafeteria.
The banquet was to
recognize Chowan County
busdrivers for their ex
cellent driving performance
this year. These operators of
the “orange monsters
loaded with the unwilling”
recorded no accidents this
year while driving over
250,000 miles.
Brewington, a graduate of
Livingstone College in
Salisburg, told the audience
that “Edenton has reached
a milestone ... and it would
be difficult to stay at the
top.” According to
Brewington, attitudes of the
drivers will play an im
portant role in their con
tinued success.
“Your attitude,” he told
the drivers, “is one of the
first and utmost important
factors. Mornings when you
don’t feel like getting up is
when you’re most likely to
have an accident.”
The past five years there
