Mrs. Janie Evans, grand
mother of the bride attended
the ceremony. Music was
provided by Libby H. Taylor
of Colerain with Gary
Brower of Edenton, soloist.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a gown
of chantilly lace. Silk
Vaneese lace ruffled the
neck, bodice and fitted
sleeves. The sheer yoke was
accented with re
embroidered vaneese lace
appliques. The gown was
fashioned with a natural
waist, accented by a silk
ribbon, for the three tiered
skirt and chapel length
train. Each tier was ruffled
with vaneese lace. The veil
was cathedral length and
trimmed with chantilly lace.
The bride carried a bouquet
of stephanotis lilies, morn
ing glories and roses.
Miss Jean Myers of Merry
Hill was Maid of Honor.

gown with re - embroidered
Alencon lace and Schiffli
lace. The fixed bodice, wilh

August 14, was a day filled
with interesting information
and nostalgia, as the
Edenton - Chowan Optimist
Club sponsored Railroad
Nostalgia Day. The day
included rides on Southern
Railways’ famed ‘The Best
Friend of Charleston’ and a
trip through the Exhibit car,
also provided by Southern
Railways.
The Best Friend of
Charleston is a replica of the
first train in the nation to
offer regular train service
for passengers. The Best
Friend continued in this
tradition as it gave rides to
over 1000 of the residents of
this area.

The bride wore a long
sleeved tea length candle
light gown of em
broidered organza in a star
and flowered pattern and
carried a cascade bouquet
of camelias roses, lilies, and
miniature roses. Miss Emily
Jarman, daughter of the
bride, was the bride’s only
attendant. Her gown was a
miniature version of her
mother’s.
After a reception in the
church Fellowship Hall, the
couple left for a wedding
trip to Topsail Island. They
will make their home in
Cary, N.C. at 1029 Castalia
Drive. The groom is em
ployed by Home Security
Life Insurance Company as
a Regional Group Manager.
He holds a B.S. degree from
N.C. State University where
he was a member of the
Sigma Nu Fraternity.
The bride is a graduate of
the School of Dental
Hygiene from the Univer
sity of North Carolina and is
employed by Dr. Frank
Morse of Durham, N.C.
A rehearsal dinner for the
wedding party was given by
