Sadie Elizabeth Blan
chard Griffin, 68, of 149 Lane
St., Whaleyville Station,
died last Thursday in a
hospital.
She was a native of
Hobbsville, N.C., and a
member of Liberty Spring
Christian Church.
Survivors include her
husband, James E. Griffin;
four sisters, Irma Blan
chard of Richmond, Doris
Benton of Whaleyville
Station, Ruth Brinkley of
Suffolk and Naomi Hofler of
Sunbury, N.C.; and a
brother, Clyde B. Blanchard
of Tyner, N.C.
The funeral was held at 4
P.M. Saturday in Sidney F.
Harrell Funeral Home by
Revs. W.A. Grissom and
William C. Tatum. Burial
was in Holly Lawn
Cemetery.

Rachel Ainsley Twiddy,
79, of Edenton, died August
18, of an extended illness in
the Chowan Hospital.
She was the daughter of
the late Annie Barnes
Ainsley and the late Henry
Ainsley. She was the wife of
the late Frank Twiddy. She
was a member of
Macedonia Baptist Church
and a former employee of

Edenton; twelve grand
children and twelve great
grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held August 20, at the
Williford-Barham Funeral
Chqpel by the Rev. George
Cook. Burial followed in
Beaver Hill Cemetery,

Tracy Welch Miller, 43, of
Route 1, Edenton, died
August 18 as the result of
an industrial accident in
Salem, New Jersey.
A native of Bertie County
he was the husband of Mrs.
Shirley Wynne Miller and
the son of Mrs. Gracie Davis
Miller of Route 2, Colerain
and the late John E. Miller.
He was a pipe welder for the
Bectol Corp. and was a
member of the A.F.L.
C. 1.0. Steamfitters and
Plumbers Local Union No.
785. He was an Army
veteran.
Besides his wife and
mother, he is survived by
two daughters, Miss Sharon
Miller and Miss Tami
Miller; two sons, Tracy
Miller and David Carroll
Miller, all of Route 1,
Edenton; a sister, Mrs.
Julia Copeland of Colerain;
a brother, Thomas R. Miller
of Route 3, Edenton; a half -
sister, Mrs. Sarah Morris
and a half - brother, J.E.
Miller, Jr., both of South
Hill, Va.; and his maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Elsie C.
Davis of Route 4, Hertford.
Funeral services were
held August 21, at 1:30 P.M.
in the First Assembly of God
Church by Rev. Norman
Gloeckler and Rev. Robert
Harrell. Burial was in
Martin Memorial Park,
Williamston, with Swindell -
Bass . Funeral Home,
Edenton in charge of
arrangements.
Sharon Godfrey
Sharon Riddick Godfrey,
37, of Sunbury died on
August 23, as the result of an
accident. She was
pronounced dead on arrival
at the Albemarle Hospital.
Mrs. Godfrey was a native
and lifelong resident of
Sunbury and a member of
Sandy Cross Baptist
Church. She was employed
as a bookkeeper for R.P.
Hollowell Co. of Sunbury.
She is survived by her
husband Kermit Lee
Godfrey, Sr., her children
Teresa Leigh Godfrey,
Kermit L. Godfrey, Jr.,
Kenneth L. Godfrey and
Elbert Kelly Godfrey. Also
surviving are her parents,

Gladys Parrish Forehand,
73, died Tuesday, August 24
at the Albemarle Hospital in
Elizabeth City. She was the
wife of Julian E. Forehand
and a member of the
Edenton Baptist Church.
Mrs. Forehand is survived
by two children; a son Ralph
R. Forehand of Wilmington,
De., and a daughter Virginia
F. Dail of Orlando, Fla. Also
surviving are one brother
John L. Parrish of Edenton
and two sisters Carrie
Spivey of Hobbsville and
Evelyn Moyers of Edenton.

sday at 2 P.M. The preacher
will be Dr. John Allen.
