Hensley, Route 1, Edenton, has participated in an Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) exercise called Global Shield 82. Hensley, a disaster preparedness officer with the 24th Air Division, Malstrom Air Force Base, Mont., joined others from all SAC units in the United States and selected Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard units to take part in command post and field training exercises. It was designed to enhance readiness and the ability of the command to carry out orders which support U S. national policy, should deterrence fail. Components of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, as well as elements of the Canadian forces, also participated in the exercise.
