JR OPTOMtTRIST Color Blindness The term color - blind is often applied to people who, strictly speaking, do not suffer color blindness. Only a few individuals actually see the world entirely in black and white. In most other cases, the problem is a color deficiency which makes it difficult to recognize certain colors or shades. The commonest type of color problem is the eye which uses all three primary colors, but in wrong proportions. Another form is the person who only uses two of the three primary colors. Such an individual will be either red blind, green blind, or, extremely rare cases, blue blind. It is a genetic defect which occurs primarily in men.
