Symphony Reports Fund Drive Response The Chowan County Chapter of the N.C. Sym phony reports that there has been a very favorable response to their recent membership - gift drive. Local businesses and civic organizations have been generous and Chapter President Mary Rhea Gardner, reports that she is quite pleased with the reception of the drive thus far. This year the attainment of the fund - raising goal which has been set by the Symphony Board is especially crucial, as the increased budget is necessary to provide a special “free” per formances for Chowan County’s High School Students. This is the last chance for many of these students to be exposed to the special magic of live symphony music in a learning atmosphere. Or dinarily, these concerts are aimed at grades four through six but since this is only the second year for the local program, high school students have missed the opportunity in the past and the Board expects to provide for future students. Anyone who has not yet responded to the fund - raising effort and wishes to support this worthy cause is urged to contact E.L. Hollowell of or any sym phony member.
