Thursday, October at, 1982 The Bandon Noteoook Exercise Your Privilege To Vote By Maggie B. Hi, Neighbors! Tuesday, November 2nd is Election Day!! Exercise you PRIVILEGE as an American, go to the Polls and vote for the candidate of YOUR choice. Even though t)us is not a major election year, ANY question or candidate which is to be decided by the people is important. ALL votes count. It is essential for each in dividual to get to the Polls to cast a vote - the result may be decided by that one vote! Don’t be apathetic - get out of that Easy Chair and take advantage of this great blessing of freedom which our great country offers to its citizens. You may think that your one vote is a “little thing”, but life is made up of “little things”. Share this verse with me, author unknown: “Little words are the sweetest to hear; little charities fly farthest, and stay longest on the wing; little lakes are the stillest; little hearts are the fullest, and little farms are the best tilled. Little bodes are read the most, and little songs the dearest loved. And when Nature would make anything especially rare and beautiful, she makes it little: little pearls, little diamonds, little dews. Agar’s is a model prayer; but then it is a little one; and the burden of the petition is for but little. The Sermon on the Mount is little, but the last dedication discourse was an hour long. Life is made up of littles; death is what remains of them all. Day is made up of little beams, and night is glorious with little stars.” On this Lord’s Day the skies were crying, strong winds blew, waters of the mighty Chowan angerly slapped the shoreline - and - it was cold! The warmth of Christian love prevaded the at mosphere as those gathered for Sunday School at Bandon Chapel were en thusiastically welcomed by Supt. Stan Turbyfill. After the opening exercises the young folk recessed to their respective class rooms. The adults were treated to an interesting lesson by Wm. F. Smith, entitled “God Proclaims the Year of Jubilee”, Lev. 25:1, 2, 8- 12,23, 24, 39-43. Bible truth brought out was that God’s people and the world need a cycle of rest and renewal. Aim was that the class select a project of physical renewal and try to involve the church in it. Prayer List: When God’s children pray together, they are “melted together in prayer”, interceding for one another, just as was the first church. Please add our friends to your prayer list. Lucille English is confined to Obid Hospital, Suffolk, Va.; Elizabeth Rountree is suffering with Shingles; Mrs. Nellie M. Polston, mother of Rose Smith, is very ill at home in Ports mouth, Va.; Emma Ins keep cut her hand Friday evening. Ten stitches had to be taken to dose the cut; Rrth Whitley’s circulation to her hands is blocked. She needs your prayers; Clarence Barnes had a serious fall while visiting the N.C. State Fair. His nose was broken, abraisons on face and a black eye; Robert (Rusty) Rusbuldt is home now and doing very well; please remember Bessie Mae Jones; Mrs. J. Clarence Leary; Joyce Ziemba, Robert Harvey; Jessie H. Davis; Joan O’Neal and Lola Castleberry; pray for our Nation, its people and pray that God will guide the decisions made by our leaders and leaders of other nations of the world; remember our mission naries, and our Pastor, Rev. Robert S. Harrell and his family. “Happy Birthday” was sung by all in honor of Meta Mason and Dave Lapham as they placed their con tributions in our Birthday Bank. At our Worship Service Bandon’s Shepherd, Rev. Robert S. Harrell, greeted the congregation warmly, commenting on work done by the men and women of the church last Tuesday. At his request, Deacon Jackson Strickland reported that it was a great day to work for the Lord. The men, under “supervision” of Deacon Dave Lapham, painted everything needing paint, while the women cleaned all windows and cabinets. The women also served a dinner that will be “long I ij E|-E|[»T- I belvin E. Resume: Moral values and spirituality are breaking down in our society today - even by men in high places. Today, more than ever, we need strong family support for our youth. In our scripture, we find that Jesus had this. Jesus knew the blessing of a Godly home, a home where the name of God was spoken with awe and respect. He was raised just like any normal boy, instructed in the ways of the Scriptures. Joseph was a carpenter. Jesus worked with him and learned the dignity of work. He was a boy like you and me but He never tumbled into sin. Our youth today need a Godly home, where example speaks louder than words, and where the Word of God is taught in the family circle as well as in church. “Day by Day” was the title of a lovely duet by Stan and Lorraine Turbyfill. The beautiful words of this well loved hymn became more meaningful as they rang out in perfect harmony. —O— SLIMNASTICS PLUS!
