V J R JHk jf* LADY WARRIORS TO GO TO STATE PLAY-OFFS—The Lady Warriors of Lawrence Academy ended the regular season play with a 20-1 record and the regular season championship. In tournament play they extended their record to 22-1 taking the Championship there and earning a berth in state play-offs in Raleigh, March 3-4th. Honor winners were Kathy Rawls, Player of the Year, Tony Lynn Hughes, tournament Most Valuable Player; Gay Bass, Tammy Nobles, Mary Dee Carraway, Honorable Mention-All Conference. "Immanuel Spirits Pair” The Immanuel Trojans defeated Grace Christian School last week by a score of 59-19. Randy Holland, of the Trojans, led the scoring with 19 points. Edenton, North Carolina, Thursday, March 3,1983 Tigers came to Edenton and filled their game bag by defeating both the boys and girls of Immanuel. The Lady Trojans led the whole game until the last 6 minutes when the Lady Tigers went ahead and won by 5 points. Mandv Peeples led the Lady Trojans with 17 points. The Trojans lost by 8 points being led by Tim Brabble and Robbie Holland respectively with 15 and 12 points. The Trojans will play their Annual Alumni game this Fri day night, March 4. The girls will play at 6:30 and the boys after the girls game. The fort in fortnight is a contraction of fourteen; the word is actually an abbrevi ation for “fourteen nights." Day Os Prayer A World Day of Prayer Celebration will be held this Friday, March 4, at 12 Noon at the First Presbyterian Church, Edenton in the 300 block of W. Queen Street. The women of Mary Leary Circle will conduct the worship with the Pastor, Dr. H.E. Mallin son bringing the message, “One G0d...t0 each gifts.” from Ephesians 4. Mrs. J .L. Smith is the guest organist. The public is cordially in vited to attend. The service will be over before 1 o’clock, for those needing to get back to work. Off the street parking is available. Henry David Thoreau SECTION B Film Festival On Parenting Scheduled I A film festival on various aspects of parenting is ' scheduled for Wednesday, , March 9, at 7:00 P.M. The public is invited to attend. It will be held in the AHEC building in Elizabeth City, across from the emergency entrance of Albemarle Hospital. The Albemarle Parenting and Childbirth Education Association (APCEA) is sponsoring the event and requests a $2 dona tion per person to cover costs. The films to be shown are A Gift—An Obligation which describes the seven vaccine - preventable diseases and how they have afflicted many children in the past, causing serious complications and death. It explains why these diseases still haunt children even now. Another film, Free To Be You And Me. combines music and song, animated stories, and the talents of pro fessional performers (Mario Thomas, Harry Belafonte, Cicely Tyson, etc.) to present a “Yes I Can” approach for young children. Originally presented as an ABC-TV special, this is a great film for parents and children of all ages. Children is a film which compares child-rearing and behavior guidance practices of people in different societies (from the Time-Life family of Man Series).
