Lapham of St. Paul, Minn, went to church in Excelsior, Minn. There he was captivated by a beautiful, petite and red-headed young lady from Minneapolis, Minn - Gertrude Bjornvold. Love at first sight! Dave and Trudy “courted” all spring - then, on May 11,1935 they were married and made their home in Wayzata, Minn. They came to Portsmouth, Va. in 1940 when duty called Dave to work in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. They , retired to Ar rowhead Beach in 1972 and have been active members of Bandon Chapel ever since. Their union has been blessed with three children: Alida Williams of Portsmouth, Va.; Margie Baumwell of Honolulu Hawaii; and David W. Lapham, II of Arrowhead Beach, N.C.; and five grandchildren. On Saturday, May 11,1985 they will renew their vows at 1:30 PM in Bandon Chapel, Arrowhead Beach. N.C. Their children and grandchildren will honor them with a reception to be held follow ing the ceremony in the Carolina Room, Gaslight Square, Edentdn. Their “love at first sight” has developed into a deep and abiding love between them and has spill ed over to include their friends and neighbors. Congratulation! “No happiness is like unto it, no love so great, as that of man and wife”. -0* At the Annual Property Owners Meeting on May 4th, one of the best meetings ever, new Board members were elected and Mr. Ernest Edwards was selected to fill the position left vacant by the retirement of Mr. Percy Nixon. A delightful reception was held in honor of Mr. Nixon following the meeting. The first meeting of the new POA Board will be Saturday at 1 PM in the Arrowhead Beach Clubhouse. Come out and support the people you have elected to represent you - give them the benefit of your ideas. -0 The first Sunday in May was observed as Scout Sunday. Our Scout Troop, No. 172, was recognized and took part in the morning worship. The message brought by Rev. Clayton Robin son, guest minister, was very meaningful and fitted well with the scout program. Special music was given by Jerry and Terry Harrell. Their beautiful harmony was enjoyed by all. -0 Congratulations to Erma Turner Phillips! Erma is a resi dent of Chowan Beach and a member of Bandon Chapel. She has one son, Raymond Phillips.
