Westberry
To Perform
American Legion Post 40 will
soon bring to Edenton the second
} recording artist this year for a
show and dance. Kent Westberry,
a country musician, will perform
on April 25 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
E.C. Toppin, spokesman for the
Legion, said, “The Charlie McCoy
Band was so successful in
February that we decided to book
more top entertainment for this
community.” He added, “People
f in this area want quality enter
tainment brought to them, rather
than having to travel elsewhere. ”
Kent Westberry
Toppin and Bill Perry,
members of the Chowan County
Fair steering committee, recent
v ly previewed Westberry’s act at
the fair convention in Greensboro.
Toppin said, “They (Westberry’s
band) got eight bookings out of the
54 county fairs.’’ The group,
known as “The Memory Makers”,
will appear at the Chowan County
Fair in October. Westberry’s per
formance so impressed Toppin
that the Legion decided to book
. him independently for this
' appearance.

tainer and hit song writer. In ad
dition to winning several song
writer awards for such songs as
;^Iello Out There,”
