White Oak Students Prepare Classes For Halloween By DIANE SWANNEll We could tell Halloween was coming when Mr. Underwood brought in about twenty five large pumpkins. Each class was given one for their room. What else is happening in these classrooms? Mrs. D. Bunch has a witch on a broom flying around in her room. Mrs. WHtte's students made paper pumpkins. Airs. Curtis's students have their own pumpkin patch with pumpkii^ and jack-o lanterns they madt£ Mrs. Swan ner’s class made paper pumpkins showing different^,feelings, to decorate the windows. Mrs. Murrill has a Halloween Holiday Carnival Is Slated MERRY HILL—The public is cordially invited to an old fashioned Halloween Carnival to be held at Lawrence Academy on Thursday, October 29 from 5-8 p.m. Plans have been made to provide fun for all ages. Salty Sam the Pirate will judge the children’s costume contest in the gym at 7 p.m. Contestants will be grouped in three categories: preschool and kindergarten, first through third grades, and fourth grade and older. Prizes will be given for creativity and originality. A variety of foods will be available and adults will enjoy shopping in the Farmer’s Market and Christmas Shop. Prizes can be won at games such as Bingo, Cake Walk, Goldfish Pond, and Pumpkin Squirt. You can have your face painted in the Make up booth, have your picture taken in the Photo Room, or stroll through the Haunted House, if you dare. A star attraction this year will be Carmen the Great, renowned for tune teller. Come on out to Lawrence Academy on October 29 for a “spook-tacular” evening of t'ami ly fun. IFEATURE HOME OF THE WEEK! Mrs. Lassiter's class has pum pkin people and tissue ghosts made out of lollypops hanging up. Mrs. Ziemba’s class also has tissue ghosts. Mrs. Lewis's class painted ghosts and finger painted pum pkins. Mrs. Dail’s class painted real pumpkins with tempra. Mrs. Renner’s class made mosaic pumpkins and ghosts to hang in the hall. Mrs. Perry has paper plate witches hanging up and a “terrible lizards” display. Mrs. Williams’ class is doing creative writing to spooky records. The library also has the spirit. Mrs. Belfield is reading Halloween ghost stories. All the bulletin boards throughout the school have a Halloween theme. One art class painted big skeletons on black paper. All this Halloween spirit will burst forth on October 30 when we all come dressed in costumes and have a parade. Moneman Attends Conference RALEIGH-N.C.
