Fleet Meeting Is Recalled By LUEJJLA STOLLINGS The Fleet Reserve Associ ation Branch and Unit 293 ,want to wish everyone a happy new year! To briefly recap our activi ties during the past month, December was a very busy time for us. Our regular meeting was held on Decem ber 3 with 14 members and one guest, Carolyn Combs, East, Coa'st Regional president, who iwas making her official visit to Unit 293. She stressed membership as her main School Menus Are Released i January 18-22 Monday: Holiday. Tuesday : Breakfast - Orange juice, buttered toast, oatmeal with raisins, milk. Lunch • Hamburger on bun, ketchup, mustard, pickle chips, french fries, pears, milk. Wednesday: Breakfast - iCup of juice, cheese toast, milk. Lunch - Spaghetti with meat sauce, carrot and celery strips, green beans, orange wedges, rolls, milk. Thursday: Breakfast - Orange juice, buttered grits, scrambled eggs, milk. Lunch - Fried chicken, potato salad, buttered broccoli spears, sliced peaches, rolls, milk. Friday: Breakfast - Apple sauce, bacon strips, cidna mon toast, milk. Lunch • Beef vegetable soup, sandwiches, crackers, cherry cobbler, milk. topic. After the meeting, which was presided over by President Stollings, a gift ex change took place and finger foods were served along with a welcome cake, and a social hour took place. On Tuesday, December 15, five members -- Valeria Whitehurst, Dorothy Sawyer, Fran Scroggs, Irene Jordan ^nd^Luella Stollings — visited member Iva Hubbard at the Camelot Nursing Home in Chesapeake to bring her gifts from the Unit and members. A similar visit to another member, Edna Gomez, a resident at Winslow Nursing Home, took place on Decem ber 22, in honor of her 88th birthday. Actions by the Unit in cluded donations to the Food Bank, $50 to Special Olympics, $50 to the Girls Club and a $50 gift for the handicapped party. Many people ask, what is the Fleet Reserve Association and who can join? It consists of the regular U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard serving on active duty or retired, commissioned of ficers of the three sea services, either active duty, retired or disability retired. Regular or reserve are welcome. More information can be had by contacting President Dave Jordan at 330-2627. The Fleet Reserve Associ ation Branch and Unit 293 meet the first Thursday of ev ery month at 918 Greenleaf Street, Elizabeth City, at 8 p.m. Prospective members are welcome to come and visit at any or all meetings. Reid Marriage Vows Exchanged Miss Martha Lynn Rogerson and Thomas Joseph Reid were married January 5 at 7 p.m. in the Center Hill Baptist Church in Tyner, by the Rev. Jimmy Sanders. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Rogerson of Tyner. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Reid of New Castle, Pa. The bride wore a tea-length dress of all rachelle lace with a fitted basque waistline and high neck. Scattered pearls decorated the bodice and neckline. The full skirt was trimmed with Schiffii lace. The bride's wide brim hat was also covered with rachelle lace and scattered pearls. The parents of the bride and bridegroom served as their children's attendants at the altar. Glenn E. Rogerson, brother of the bride and Bonnie Rae Reid, sister of the groom seated the guests. Music was provided by Jake Boyce, organist. Mrs. Ann Boyce served as Mistress of Ceremony. A dinner honoring the couple was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Preston Monds, Mr. and Mrs. Fleetwood Harrell and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Blanchard at the Golden Corral in Edenton. Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Boyce and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Boyce hosted a rehearsal din ner for the wedding party at Boswell's Restaurant in Edenton. Training Session Is Scheduled A training session for prospective school bus drivers will be held at John A. Holmes High School on Tuesday, Jahuary 26 and Tuesday, February 2. The sessions will begin at 8:45 a.m. and continue through 3 p.m. Attendance at both sessions is required in order to com plete the classwork training. Mossburg, M.D., Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, announces the opening of his practice in general, vascular and thoractic surgery. Mossburg received his medical degree from West Virginia School of Medicine in Morgantown, W. Va. He completed his residencies at West Virginia University Medical Center in Morgantown. Mossburg's last position was on staff at Fairmont General Hospital, Fairmont, W. Va. He and his wife, Judith, and daughters Amber, 7, and Andrea, 9, moved to Elizabeth City earlier this month. Mossburg chose to relocate in Elizabeth City for several reasons. "I was impressed by Albemarle Hospital and my family was accustomed to living in a small town," Mossburg said. "We also enjoy the water and the climate of this area." Mossburg's office is located at 1142 North Road Street.
