Coast Group To Meet
1994 has been designated
the Year of the Coast by Gov.
Jim Hunt, and he has created
the Coastal Futures Commit
tee to review North Carolina’s
coastal management pro
grams.
The committee, which is
finalizing its recommenda
tions, will meet at noon
Wednesday, June 22, at Ra
mada Inn in Ahoskie; 8:30
a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, June
23, at Chowan-Roanoke
Wildlife Club in Tunis; and
8:30 a.m. to noon Friday,
June 24, at Ramada Inn.
Citizens are encouraged to
attend, especially during a
public comment period at 9
a.m. Friday, June 24.

Gospel Sing Jubilee Set For June
The First Annual Eastern
Carolina Gospel Singing Ju
bilee will take place June 24,
1994 at 7:30 pm. This event
will take place at the Martin
County Auditorium, Wil
liamston, North Carolina.
The talent lineup for this
event will be the biggest ever
to be on stage the same night
in this area.
This years lineup includes
The Inspirations, The
Greenes, The.Hoppers, Movin
Up Quartet, and Charles Jones
and the Revivers.
The Inspirations, from
Bryson City, Tennessee have
been singing together, for 30
years. Their popular hit
songs, include "When I
Wake Up to Sleep No More,"
Touring That City," and
It's Still the Blood."
The Greenes, from Boone,
North Carolina are a mixed
trio, and popular to Eastern
North Carolina. The Greenes
already have a number one
song for 1994, "In the Twin
kling of an Eye."
The Hoppers, from Madi
son, North Carolina have had
two, number one songs the last
three years, "Here I Am", and
"That's Him."
Movin Up Quartet, from
Winterville, North Carolina,
has released their second na
tional release titled "Happy

West Heads Seminar
The Washington County
Arts Council will hold a the
atre workshop on Saturday,
June 25, from 9:30 a.m. until
5:30 p.m. at the Art Center, 113
Adams Street, downtown Ply
mouth.
The workshop will be
taught by Jeffery West, artis
tic director of the Raleigh En
semble Players. West's cre
dentials include ABC's "All
My Children," narrator for
The New South, news director
for a radio station, and over 40
roles in live theatre. He is
presently teaching at Duke
University.
The morningi session will
concentrate on/acting skills
involved in creating a char
acter. The afternoon session,
after a short lunch break, will
focus on scenework and pro
ducing the play.
The cost for the workshop
will be $15. Washington
County residents will be ad
mitted free of charge. Call for
a group rate for arts theatres.

Craft Fair At
Currituck Set
The 1994 Currituck Craft
Fair will be held Saturday
and Sunday, August 13-14, at
Currituck High School in
Barco, N.C. Hours will be 10
am. until 5 p.m. both days.
Some booth spaces are still
available for a rental fee of
$40 each. To inquire, contact

Admission will be $1 for
adults and 50 cents for chil
dren ages six through 12.
The event is being spon
sored by the Currituck Ex
tension Homemakers Associ
