Seniors plan visit to the Chrysler Museum BY CONNIE PARKER Senior Center Director Weekly activities planned by the Chowan Senior Center in Edenton during July include the following: • Senior Crafts - Our craft room is open 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday Samples of workshop ideas are available at the center. • Fitness Room - Our fitness room is open from 8a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Thurs day, and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Fridays. • Bingo - Every Tuesday at the Senior Center we play Bingo from 1 p.m. until 2:30p.m. Come join us! • Senior Aerobics - Every Tuesday and Thursday at the Senior Center we have a 30 minute low impact aerobics class geared for seniors at 10:13 a.m. Come join the fun. • Toning Class - On Thurs days we will have a 30-minute class at 10:45 a.m. • Senior Bowling - We will resume bowling in Septem ber. • Senior Sports - Every Tues day we w’ill have various ghmes set up at the Recre ation Department in Edenton at 10:45 a.m. • Aqua Aerobics/Fun Swim - We will resume again in Sep tember. • Par 3 Golf - On July 10 and July 24 we will leave the Se nior Center at 8:30 a.m., play 9 holes of Par 3 Golf and return by noon. Cost is $2. • Watermelon Social - On July 29, corrie join us at 12:30 p.m. for watermelon before Bingo. Upcoming Trips and Special Activities • Ceramics Class - On July 13 and 16 (two-day class) we will leave the Senior Center at 1 p.m., go to the ceramic shop by van and make ceramic craft of your choice. Cost depends on your choice. Deadline is July 8. • Chrysler Museum Trip - On July 15 we will leave the Senior Center at 9 a.m., go to Water side for shopping and lunch on your own and then on to the Chrysler Museum for a one hour tour of “Sacred Sites,Yh&rK and Now: The American Civil War.” We will return around 4 p.m. Cost is $3 and deadline to sign up and pay is July 8. • Lunch and Play - On July 17 we will leave the Senior Center at 10 a.m., have a Dutch treat lunch at RV’s and attend 1 p.m. performance at the Dream Cen ter. We will return around 5 p.m. This is a lovely, tender drama - a touching, heartbreak ing story beautifully told. Cost of play and transportation is $15 and deadline is July 8. • Dinner and Play - On July 22 we will leave the Senior Center at 4 p.m., have Dutch treat din ner at Red Lobster and see 8 p.m. performance of “A Street car Named Desire” at East Carolina Theatre in Greenville, NC, and return by midnight. This is a visceral and powerful drama by Tennessee Williams. Cost of play and transportation is $10 and deadline is July 10. • T-Shirt Workshop - On July 27 at 1 p.m. we will decorate a T-shirt with sunflower napkin appliques. Bring a white or light colored T-shirt. Cost is $2 and deadline is July 22. • Fishing Trip - On July 29 we will leave the Senior Center at 8:30 p.m., go to Kitty Hawk Pier and fish incoming tide (high tide, 12:51 p.m.). Lunch “on your own” until 2:30 p.m. and return to Edenton around 4:30 p.m. Cost is $3; deadline is July 22. Wedding Continued From Page 2-B acolvtes. The father of the groom served as best man. The bride’s.parents enter tained with a reception at the Parish House of the church, immediately following the cer-. emonv. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Ed Westberry Deese and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Elmo Faison. Mrs. Patricia Ann Barnes and Mrs. MichaelGrant Newsome Served as coordinators of the reception. Assisting were Mrs. Paul Taylor Johnston; Mrs. John Rives Manning, Jr.; Mrs. Robert Metcalfe; Mrs. Walter Newell Moseley; and Mrs. Mary Lou Presson. Music was pro vided by Mr. John Theophilous Skiles, uncle of the groom. On the day prior to the wed ding, Mrs. Wade Smoot Hock aday, Mrs. John Rives Manning, Colonial Communications 482-3244 401 S. An after-rehearsal dinner was held at the Ramada Inn on the eve of the wedding, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ronald La fayette Rountree, parents of the groom, with music provided by Mr. John Theophilous Skiles, uncle of the groom. Pre-Nyptial Parties On Aug. 16, an engagement party was given for the couple at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jason Scott Joyner of Roanoke Rapids, brother and sister-in law of the bride. Also hosting the event were Mr. and Mrs. Travis Brent Joyner of Clinton, NC, also brother and sister-in law of the bride. A Christmas shower was held Dec. 13 at the home of Mrs. Ed Westberry Deese. Assisting with the event was Mrs. Jonathan David Davis. A Lingerie shower/pajama party wras held Feb. 7 at the home of Mrs. Walter Newell Moseley of Myrick Estates, Littleton, NC. Hostesses also included Miss Kelly Rene Moseley, Miss Amanda Kelly Metcalfe, Mrs. Robert Metcalfe and Mrs. Walter LloydMoseley.
