RELIGION /columns, events Good news for you and me comes straight from God BY REV. HARRY SNYDER Retired Minister How does the birth of Jesus Christ make a difference ir your life and in mine? Jesus was born to stand in our shoes and, at the proper time, to be given, by God's grace, faith tc walk in his way, truth and life From Mary, his mother, from the study of srcriptures, from worship and prayer Jesus heard the still, quiet voice of the Spirit, the truth of his unique sonship to God. By the time he was twelve he was in spired to be about his Father's business. Essential to being the lovinj Son of God and God's Savior ti and for all people, Jesus needei to stand in our shoes — to see hear and understand the hu man experience of living. Jesu; was born in a stable, sniffe< the smells of hay, animals, am manure. Early on he and hi: parents were compelled to be come refugees in a strang< land, Egypt. Later, Jesus expe rienced the joys and struggle: of family life and community life under Roman rule. In truth Jesus experienced our tempta tions and problems. ) 1 A Pastor's L PERSPECTIVE By standing in our shoes Jesus learned what subtracts from life and what adds to life, what behavior hurts and de stroys human relationships, and what heals, restores, and builds good relationships. At the right time, God gave Jesus the signal to begin his public ministry as Savior. Jesus her alded the good news of the reign of God. After leading his disciples into the hills, he prayed all night, and when it was day he led them to a level place and taught them God's ways for human beings to live. There, he healed them of their dis eases and cured those with emotional hurts. "And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came forth from him and healed them all." (Luke 6:19) At God's right time he said to his disciples and, today, to you and me, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come and make our home with him." (John 14:23) This is the real significance of Christmas — the reason we celebrate Christmas. Jesus Christ is good news from God. God came in Jesus Christ to be born in us, and to live in and through us. Amen. McFadden celebrates a most special birthday - turns 105! "We predict that it ultimately ' will replace film screen mam mography," said Dr. Pisano. Once a technician creates a traditional film screen mam mogram, it cannot be altered, . she said. Since breast tumors and healthy breast tissues are so similar in density, up to 20 percent of breast cancers can not be seen at all on X-ray film. "What you see is what you get," the physician said. "Im provements in image display involve acquiring more images with magnification or focgl compression and thus exposr ing the patient to more radia- ■ tion oir looking at.the images with a hot light and magnify- i ing glass." ! Digital systems, on the other ; hand, directly measure X-ra;y photons and can be processed by a computer and displayedin different ways, Pisano said.
