According to Eden ton Police Chief Gregory Bonner, the in vestigation reaches as far back as last October and involved an undercover narcotics agent. Detective-Sergeant Rhonda Copeland recently went before a grand jury and obtained a true bill of indictment, which resulted in the drug arrests. The'music bug didn’t exactly leave Dr. Wink in medical school. During her third year, she released a solo album en titled “From Texas with Love. ” “During the week, I was a medical student and on week ends I went around to radio stations throughout Texas with my father, promoting my album.” said Dr. Wink, who received a masters degree in miisic from the University of Texas prior to entering medi cal school. “I love music, but now I do it for fun since I’ve been a doctor,” said Dr. Wink. Enjoy The Hoy Maze: Local Realtors join effort to help library A group of Edenton real es tate companies — Anne Burroughs Real Estate, Real Estate of Edenton Bay, Top Sale Realty, and Hayes Real Estate — have joined an effort by the Albemarle Area Association of Realtors to solicit donations of cash or children's books to help restore the Bertie County Li brary, which was heavily dam aged during Hurricane Floyd. All are members of the organi zation. Edenton Realtor April Lane said that the mission is in keep ing with the philosphy of the association, which follows a specific code of ethics and "one of our goals is to serve our re spective communities," she said. "We are happy to have this opportunity to help." Association President George Bright said, "Our 150 members are real estate pro fessionals who are out in their communities every day. Fol lowing Floyd, we realized how lucky we were here in north eastern North Carolina and feel a need to offer assistance to our nearest neighbors to the west." AAAR is the local affiliate of the North Carolina Associa tion of Realtors, one of the state's oldest and currently the largest professional trade as sociation. Locally, AAAR pro vides education, information services and political action on behalf of Realtor members as well as the general public in volved in the purchase or sale of property anywhere in Camden, Chowan, mainland Currituck, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties. Through the deadline date of Nov. 15, everyone is encour aged to make donations of new or "gently used" children's books or cash donations to help the Bertie Library buy new books at one of the agencies. The Shepard-Pruden Library will also accept donations for the project. Checks should be made payable to the Bertie County Library. Donated books will be stored at Real Estateof Eden ton Bay until the Bertie Library is ready to re ceive them. "Our friends in Bertie need our help. We hope local resi dents will respond gener ously," said Lane.
