I Recreation REPORT « Summer Activities Schedule The Recreation Department has began registration for its youth summer activities. Planned activities include swimming, tennis, sailing, arts and crafts, gymnastics, volleyball and soccer. Class sizes are limited so sign up early and pay the registration fee to guarantee your spot. Adult Exercise Class The Rec. Dept, offers exer cise classes three days a week to women and men of all ages. The classes are held at the Chowan Senior Center and cost $3 per class pr $20 per month. Morning and evening classes are offered to fit busy schedules and you may join at any time. For more details on the classes call the instructor. Connie Parker at 482-2242. 7-9 Baseball League The Tigers sit atop the standings and are still unde feated early into the season. The Lions, Beavers and Cubs are just one game out with a loss each. The Bucks . and Elks have two losses each, while the Bulls and Bruins have three each. Play continues every Friday night at Earnhardt Fields. Come see the action. 9-12 Baseball League Winslow Auctions swept through the first round of the Little League schedule with out a loss. Carolina Classic and Na tional Guard are vying for the .second place spot while Westover and NAPA share fourth place. 16 & Under Softball As of May 30. standings in the league are: Royalty Fi nance 2-0. HTM 3-1, Owen’s Carpet 2-1. Coke 1-1, Albemarle Hospital 0-1, Blount’s 0-2. Perquimans Chamber 0-2. Men’s Softball League As of June 1, standings in the league are: United Coun try 5-0. Pine Ridge 4-1, Young Guns 4-1. Edenton Motors 3-2, Pre-Paid Legal Services 2-3, Regulator 1-4. Spruill’s Log ging 1-4, Phelps Tree Service 0-5. Women’s Softball League As of May 30, standings in the league are: C.C. Ladies 2-0, Lady Bombers 1-1, Combina tion 1-1, Chowan Hospital 1-1, A&L Sluggers 1-0, Vogedes 0-1, J.S. Electric 0-2. Basketball Camp A summer basketball camp will be held from June 19-23. Youth entering kindergar ten through rising sixth graders are eligible to partici pate in the program. Holmes High School held its annual Aces Pride Day on May 16 at 1:30 p.m. on the school's athletic complex. A total of $550 was raised by the students from this year's event. The money will be donated to a Holmes student who is undergoing cancer treatment. The afternoon's events featured a powder puff football game between the juniors and the seniors, raffle drawings for items donated by area merchants, a dunking booth, three-on-three basketball games, water balloon toss, and a D.J. Will Hollowell won the Kick Ticket and received a $50 savings bond from Southern Bank for kicking the longest field goal. Top: John A. The event will be held in Windsor on June 10 beginning at 8 a.m. Participating youth will gather at the new Roanoke Cashie Visitors Center, which is located on the U.S. 17 By Pass in Windsor. A short program will start the events before fishing gets underway at noon. Following the fishing activities, the Windsor Rotary Club will sponsor a hot dog cookout. > Prizes will be awarded for the most fish caught, total, length of all fish, and the largest fish. There will also be numerous other prizes for those in attendance. The event is open for youth ages 1-16, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration is free, pro vided you sign up before the day of the tournament. Day-of-event registration on June 10 will be $1.
