NC were married at 3 p. m. on April 29 at the Rocky Hock Baptist Church in Edenton with the Rev. Ron Cava officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Lee Jordan Jr. of Edenton. She is the granddaugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus F. Bass Sr. of Edenton and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert L. Jordan Sr. of Tyner. NC. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dennis M. Chappell of Hobbsville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. May ward H. Chappell of Hobbsville, NC and Mr. and Mrs. Isaac J. Harrell Sr. of Edenton. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a white satin sleeveless gown with a chapel length train designed by MoriLee. The dress was adorned with very Mr. and Mrs. Heath Dennis Chappell intricate beading of crystals, rocals and satin bugle beads. The wide straps of the gown, the set-in band at the waist and the entire edge of the dress were bordered with the same corresponding beading as the bodice of the gown. The back of the dress hadabeadedbowand stream ers. Her headpiece was a shoulder length veil with a band of pearls and sequins attached. The bride’s bouquet was made of a mixture of white, pink and lavender roses with white stephanotis. Maid of honor was Miss Rana Berryman of Edenton. Bridesmaids were Miss Eliza beth Hughes of Edenton, Miss Monica Chappell of Edenton, Miss Crystal Hare of Edenton, Mrs. Tina Maynard, cousin of the bride, of Newport News, VA and Miss Melissa Pendleton of Weeksvifle, NC. The bridesmaids wore floor length satin gowns in albergine color, with spaghetti straps and matching shawls, made by MoriLee. They each carried a mixture of spring flowers and roses in shades of pinks and lav enders. Flower girls were Miss Maura Bass, cousin of the bride, of Edenton, and Miss Chloe Chappell, cousin of the groom, also of Edenton. Ringbearer was Mr. Justin Jor dan, cousin1 of the bride, of Greenville, NC. The father of the groom served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Bill Harrell, cousin of the groom, of Elizabeth City and Mr. Chris Layton, cousin of the groom, of Edenton. Mistress of ceremonies were Mrs. Peggy Bunch, aunt of the bride, of Elizabeth City, and Mrs. Jan Layton, aunt of the groom, of Edenton. Program attendant was Miss Roxanne Chappell, cousin of the groom, of Edenton. Guest book attendants were Miss Emily Bunch, cousin of the groom, of Tyner, NC and Miss Natalie King of Hobbsville, NC. Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Delores Hollowell of Hobbsville, NC, pianist; and vo calists, Miss Carisa Harrell of Hertford, NC, Mr. Donnie Copeland of Tyner, NC and Rev. Ron Cava of Edenton. A reception was held at the fel lowship hall at the Rocky Hock Baptist Church immediately fol lowing the ceremony. After a honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico, the couple will make their home in Hobbsville, NC. The bride earned her diploma in Dental Assisting and Associ ate of Science in Dental Hygiene. She works as a dental hygienist at the office of Dr. Lonnie V. Sieck in Edenton. The groom earned a diploma in Residental Carpentry and As sociate of Science in Electrical and Electronics. Hunt Jr. Awards for Youth in Public Ser vice. Gov. Hunt recognized and honored 100 high school students from the Class of2000 on Saturday, June 10. The recognition service took place at noon at the McKimmon Center on the campus of North Carolina State Univer sity in Raleigh. Among those recognized was Tanner Ryan Leggett of Edenton. A rising senior at John A. Holmes High School, Leggett is the student representative on the Grievance Committee and was chosen MVP/ All-Conference in soccer. Leggett is a member of the Dream Team that allows athletes to mentor at risk students in elementary and middle school. “The Youth in Public Service Awards seek to encourage public Service among young North Caro linians by recognizing one high school student from each of our state’s 100 counties for their achievements as volunteers,” Hunt said. "Each rising senior was nomi nated by leaders within the schoofc and community. Each was then selected for the award from a pool of exceptionally qualified appliants because they exemplified the qualifies of good citizenship. These students have a compassion for their fellow North Carolinians, and they demonstrate their com passion through service.” The 100 students and their guests were invited to a luncheon at the McKimmon Center, followed by the awards ceremony.
