(Submitted photo) Scouts plan to assist Food Pantry BY GINNY GILLAM For many years Boy Scouts ol America has worked diligently tc improve our communities and the welfare of the families that reside in these communities. One such mission is the annual nationwide “Scouting for Food”. Scouting For Food is an opportunity for Scouts to “Do A Good Turn” to help their community, and an occasion for the community to see Scouts in action! Edenton's newest Boy Scouts, Troop 156 will be collecting on Oc tober 26 (Thursday) and October 28 (Saturday). Sponsored by St. Anne Catholic Church, Troop 156 will be trying something different for this area by stationing them selves at local grocery stores in stead of going door-to-door. The Scouts will be located at various Edentongrocery stores during cer tain hours on those two days. They are asking that when you purchase your groceries if you would please remember to buy an extra item or two and place in collection bins being manned by members of Boy Scout Troop 156 outside the scores. All donated items will be given to the Edenton-Chowan Food Pan try. Troop 156 will only be collect ing non-perishable food items, toi letries, and paper products. The efforts of Boy Scout Troop 156 will help the Food Pantry prepare for the busy holiday seasons.
