Community Calendar Thursday - 4/26 LUNCHEON PLANNED The Chowan Golf and Country Club Woman’s Auxiliary7 will meet on Thurs day, April 26, for its monthly meeting and luncheon. BANQUET PtANNED The Albemarle Crisis Pregnancy Center will hold its annual fundraising banquet, “A Season of Miracles, will be held Thursday, April 26, at 7 p.m. at Leon Nixon's Catering Facility, on Hwy. 32, just north of downtown Edenton. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Johnny Hunter. Tickets available by calling the center in Elizabeth City at 338-1655. HORTICULTURE CLUB MEETS The Chowan County Home Horticulture Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, at the Chowan County Agricul hire Center. The program will be •Ornamentals for the Albemarle" presented by Debbie Sauls. Come and bring a friend. GARDENERS PROGRAM Professional horticulturist Debbie Sauls will be the guest speaker for a program at the Chowan County Agricultural Center April 26 at 7 p.m. She will be speaking on plants that are appropriate for growing in our area and answering your gardening questions. HOLOCAUST EXHIBIT The community is invited to view a Holocaust Exhibit prepared by students in the eighth grade gifted program at Chowan Middle School April 26 at 7 p.m. in Hut 4. The exhibit is based on the students' research and a visit to the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington. DC. Friday - 4/27 HEAUNG FORCE COMING "The Rhythm of the Drum," a mixture of music and song designed to foster a cultural awakening, will be presented by “The Healing Force" on Friday, April 27. at 7 p.m. in Swain Auditorium. Edenton. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Chowan Schools Band Parents Association. Saturday - 4/28 SPRING FESTIVAL Lawrence Academy in Merry Hill will hold its annual Spring Festival on April 28. There will be games, food entertainment and more, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will also be a chicken cookoff with the entries, after judging, being sold in plates for everyone to enjoy. AARP TO MEET The Perquimans Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons will meet Monday, April 30, at the Perquimans County Senior Center in Hertfordat 2 p.m. President cMona Sadler invites all members and interested senior citizens to attend the meeting. WORKSHOP PLANNED The Albemarle Literacy Center in Elizabeth City will present a special six-week Writers' Workshop, "Finding Your Theme, Developing Purpose,” in the “Elements of Fiction" series on Mondays, April 30 - June 4. What can town planners and citizens learn by studying them? With questions like these in mind, Dr. Warren Boeschenstein, architecture professor at the University of Virginia, embarked on an in depth study of nine historic towns along the Atlantic coast. Included in the study were such towns as Edgartown, Massachusetts, Beaufort, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, and Edenton, North Carolina.
