Sept. 15. The action, which takes place on the tented lawn at the comer of Main and Water Streets in beautiful downtown Columbia, begins at 4:30 p.m. with guest registration, hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. Over 100 items do nated by the region's finest painters, potters, weavers and fine art craftspeople and galler ies willbe displayed before a dinner of steamed hard crabs and delicious side dishes is served at 6:30 p.m. The auction benefits Pocosin Arts educa tion program, which includes a generous scholarship fund for qualifying students and plans for an intensive three-day craft retreat in January 2002. Tickets,pricedat$25 each, cover costs asso ciated with the event. Overnight lodging is available at two of Columbia's delightful bed and breakfast inns, or at the new Eastern 4-H Environmental Education and Conference Center located on the waterfront at nearby Bulls Bay.
