During Monday’s meeting,
commissioners voted 4-2 for

favor of gender equality that
will be sent to Raleigh.
Commissioners Greg
Bonner, Ron Cummings,
EUis Lawrence and John
Mitchener voted in support
of the resolution while com

Patti Kersey voted against
it. Commissioner Don Fair
cloth was absent from the
meeting.
Many speakers spoke on
behalf of the resolution that

to the list of 36 states who
have ratified the ERA. Pend
ing legal maneuvers and
court challenges, 38 states
are needed for the ERA to
become law.
