RONALD WILLIAM DECKER JR. ■ Charges: Filing a false police report. ■ Height/weight: 6’0, 180. ■ Hair/eye color: Brown/ Edenton Police Department Police are investigating an in cident of larceny at 207B East Church St. that was reported Oct. 8. Yssil Ayana Babb-Crawford, 27, of Melonie Street, Edenton, was arrested Oct. 15. She was charged with misdemeanor larce ny and second-degree trespass by the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 20,2018. A secured bond was set at $3,000. Emily Kaylin Moore, 19, of Bridgetowne Avenue, Edenton, was arrested Oct. 12 for two charges of failure to appear. A se ¬ cured bond was set at $6,000. Police are investigating an in cident of trespassing at an apart ment in Tyler Run Apartments that was reported on Oct. 12. James Edward Moore Sr., 65, of Jackson Street, Edenton, was arrested Oct. 12 and charged with having a lethal cutting instru ment. A secured bond was set at $1,000. Grace Anne Rouse, 22, of Magnolia Drive, Camden, was. arrested Oct. 12 and charge with larceny and driving while license revoked. According to the report, Rouse is accused of stealing alco hol from the Dollar General on West Queen Street. Tyrone Christopher Wilson, 22, of Bridgetowne Avenue, Eden ton, was arrested on Oct. 12 on a warrant out of Guilford County for failure to appear. The war rant stems from a May 25, 2018, incident in winch he was charged with two counts of assault on a female, two counts of battery of an unborn child, one count of interfering with emergency com munication and one count of in jury to personal property. He was charged on June 7 for resisting a public officer by the Chowan County Sheriff’s Office. A secured bond of $10,750 was set. green. ■ Race/sex: White/male. From Staff Reports ROCKY HOCK — Chowan County authorities are inves tigating the death of a Rocky Hock man in connection with an apparent domestic incident Sunday afternoon. The victim was identified by the Chowan County Sheriff’s office as McRell Rashad Eason, 29. Around 3:30 p.m., Sunday, officers from the Chowan County Sheriff’s Office re sponded to 2017 Rocky Hock Road on a report of an assault in progress. Officers arrived to find a 29- year-old man dead at the scene, according to Detective John McArthur of the Chowan Coun ty Sheriffs Office. The fatal wound inflicted on Eason appeared to be a knife wound, according to the sher iffs department. McArthur said a 26-year-old woman at the scene told inves tigators that a domestic argu ment led to the assault. The Chowan County Sheriffs Office is actively investigating this incident and has requested the assistance of the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation to help process the crime scene and the evidence. No arrests had been made in the case as of Monday after- noon. McArthur said late Monday afternoon that the autopsy had been performed and had confirmed that the death was a homicide and that a knife was used to inflict the fatal wound. A knife was recovered at the scene, McArthur said. Authorities are not releasing the name of the woman at this time, according to McArthur. The woman had visible inju ries, McArthur said, adding the injuries were not life-threaten ing. Officers planned to meet Tuesday with the district attor ney to discuss possible charges in the case. Appreciation Banquet honors first responders BY JOHN MCARTHUR For the Chowan Herald Chowan County First Responders were honored during the 48th annual Ap preciation Banquet for Chowan County Emergency Services. A fun time of fellowship was had by those that par ticipated in Thursday’s ban quet at the American Le gion Edward G. Bond Post 40 of Edenton, which has a long standing tradition of support for Chowan Coun ty Emergency Services. Among the agencies in at tendance were the Chowan County Sheriffs Office, The Edenton Police Department, Chowan County EMS from all units, Center Hill Cross- roads Fire Department, The North Carolina State Highway Patrol, The North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission, The Chowan County Clerk’s Office, The Chowan County Register of Deeds Office, and The North Carolina Department of Public Safety Probation and Parole. Other key fig ures that were there were Chowan County Commis sioner Chairman Jeff Smith, County Commissioner John Mitchener, The Honorable Judge J.C.- Cole, Washing ton County Sheriff Johnny Barnes, and Retired Chowan County Sheriff Fred Spruill. The evening began with a call to order by the Edward G. Bond Post 40 Command er Maureen Sobulefsky. The American flag was honored by attendees pledging their allegiance to it and for what it stands. The National An them was sung beautifully by Meredith Wood, who is the wife of local Wildlife Commission Officer Tyler- Wood. The invocation and blessing over the meal was offered by newly appointed Edenton Police Chief Henry King- Dinner was the infamous meal that the legion is known for of steak and potatoes. It was served by the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and the Boy Scouts of America Troop 164. Top- pin, who by the way was celebrating his and Brenda’s wedding anniversary. Toppin welcomed North Carolina National Guard Master Ser geant Retired Carol Barker. Master Sergeant Barker is the 2017-2018 Department Commander for the Ameri can Legion. Master Sergeant Barker opened with a mo ment of silence honoring the recently slain North Carolina Highway Patrolman Kevin Connor. Barker expressed her thankfulness for all that first responders do throughout the nation. Barker stated that first responders assist people on what might be the worst day of their lives and that they certainly aren’t paid enough for their hard work and dedication. Barker offered insight into how to build stronger communities by saying that interacting in a positive was is crucial for this to occur. Barker ended her speech by saying again how thank ful she was for the service of the Chowan County First Responders and suggested that a word of thank be of fered to the next First Re sponder that attendees may encounter. Next on the agenda was the time for the presentment of awards to deserving First Responders.
