such a fanning community
the name was eventually
changed to Farmville. The
meeting room tables were
decorated with origami
birds, an art of Japanese
paper folding, in all colors

NCSDAR Districts and
meetings have a long his
tory in North Carolina. Del
egates at the 1920 North
Carolina State Conference
voted to divide the state so
ciety into four geographic
areas to be called districts.
As the National Society ap
proved new chapters, the
number of districts ex
panded until in 1967 there
were nine districts. As a re
sult of redistricting in 2014,
there now are eight North
Carolina districts encom
passing 105 active chapters
with a state-wide member
ship of 7,515. The purpose
of each district is to pro
vide an avenue for chapter
regents and members to
network and to hold an an
nual meeting once per year
to present reports of dis
trict and chapter work.
