Miss Josephine Heigh way, the libra ian, made a talk in regard to chil dren's book week which is to be ob served from November 19th, through the 26th. It was decided that Mr. Fred Bates be asked to secure a moving picture appealing to children. This picture to be sponsored by the Woman's Club. The following committee was ap pointed to meet with the library trus tees in regard to securing the assem bly room as a meeting place for the Woman's Club. The committee in cluded: Mesdames C. W. Savage, Edw. E. Adams and R. M. Moody. The matter of a chairman for the Tuberculosis Christmas Seals was discussed and a chairman appointed to take charge of this work. Davidson, of Gastonia were called to Hanger this week to attend the funeral of their nephew and cousin, Walter Davidson. They spent the week with relatives in the county. Funeral Held At MarSle For Connie Hall Funeral services for Bonnie Hall, age 16, were held at Marble October ^ 22, at the Baptist church at 1 :30 o'clock. Rev. W. H. Ford, pastor of Andrews Baptist church had cnarge of the services assisted by Rev. Wood ard, of Xeedmore, N. C\. former pas tor of Marble church. A solo, "There'll be.no night there" was sung by Miss Alta Mulkey. Six of Bonnie's girl friends and school mates acted as flower girls. The pall-bearers were: Forest Ab ernathy, Harry Mulkey, Vernon Biy son, Ernest Hyde, Powell Smith and Owen Lovingood. They were ft'on nies" school mates. The services were attended by a host of telatives and tnends, the flora* offerings were >rofuse and very beautiful. Interment followed at the cemetery near Marble. Bonnie has been a devoted mem ber ol the Marble Baptist church for vwo years. She died at th?? Candler Tidmarsh hospital in Svlva, N. C., Friday morning at 6:30. She had been ill only a short ti ne, and her death came as a shock to her many friends. She is survived by hei parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hail; four brothers, J. E. Hall, of Whittier, X O. C. On Sunday morning Dr. Smith talk ed to the Presbyterian Sunday school about the work of the Mountain Orphanage near Black Mountain, I which is supported by the Presby jtery. He told of a number of boys I and girls who had been taken in by j the orphanage, trained, and then sent out to take their places in the world. Thus far, he stated, four hundred I boys and girls had been cared for i through this institution. At the eleven o'clock hour Rev. F. I Rauschenberg, Superintendent o f Home Missions, preached, speaking largely of the benevolent causes of the church. I)r. Smith also spoke at I this service.
