CARBONATION IS

Medical Authorities in Leading Hos

The millions of people who enjoy
carbonated beverages every day are
treating themselves even better than
they think, according to C. k. Hoov
er. manager of the Coca-Cola Bot
tling Company, of Murphy, for
scientists and dieticians ha\e proved
that pure carbonated drinks are
highly beneficial to the human sys
tem.
"It is exceedingly interesting to
note the widespread use of a pure
carbonated drink like Coca-Cola in
the leading hospitals,'' said Mr.
Hoover. "For instance,, here is an
article by Miss \ era kindrick. chief
dietician of the Springfield (Mass.)
Hospital, in which she says:
"'We frequently include bottled
carbonated beverages in the dietary
of our patients. Johns Hopkins Hos
pital, of Baltimore, 1 am informed,
has for years been a large user of
these drinks. Dieticians of the Col
li-; P. Huntington Hospital, which
treats cancer cases, say that they
"v#? found that the bottled carbo
nated leverages can be retained on
the stomach longer than any oher
food.
' There are several reasons for
the growth of the use of these bev
erages in the hospital dietary. The
main one is that the manufacturer
of these drinks is careful to see that
only the purest ingredients go into
his beverages, and that they are
manufactured under sanitary condi
tions. It has been shown also that
such a beverage is not merely

Well the business in Murphy is so
better than it was last year and it
is on a more paying basis than last
year and the men at the Murphy
shop aim to keep it ahead of any
previous year.
Now I know that Mr. Kirby is
more than pleased with his men
with the showing that they have
given him for this year and know
that thev will bend every effort to
bring the Murphy shop above the

have Mr. Kirby corporation in this
