Islands to Meet Planes
Concrete "islands'* tliat may be
floated to meet planes crossing the
ocean are possible, according to
Charles de Frassee, a French in
ventor, whose model of the novel
"seaports'* was recently exhibited by
the Chamber of Commerce of France.
Pe Frassee says that his ishmds
would be seaworthy enough to take
up stations as half-way stops in trans
oceanic flights. Planes would land
on them for refueling and take off
with the aid of catapults similar to
those now used for launching planes
from ships. The islands would have
hangars and living quarters for per
manent crews of mechanics, and two
giant 2,500 horse power motors would
propel them to their locations.
