selected members from each reli

tion in our City met at the Carnegie
library and effected the Organiza

foot for sometime, a meeting hav
ing been held about three weeks ago
by interested parties, at which time
a committer was appointed to draft
by-laws and work out final details.
These by-laws, covering the pur
pose and scope of the organization,
were then read before each organ
ization of our city and approved.
Following this, each organization ap
pointed a member from their body
to serve on the advisory board of
tha Associated Charities. These
members then met and chose Mrs. H.
G. Elkins. representing the Murphy
Women'; Club, Chairman, and Dr.
Edw. K. Adams, representing the
Murphcy Lions Club, as Secretary
iTeasurrr. The 'other members of
the advis* ry boadr with their rogan

from their organization as possible,

the Associated Charities. Members
of the latter organization will be
asked to give twenty-five cents a
month the year round, in money,

with all representatives organiza

between 75 and 100 member s will j
he secured who can and will give this
much, and there will be other who i
can and will give more than this, j
Later the County and Town author

scription, as will residents not con
nected with either of the above or
ganizations. It is a COMMUNITY
affair, and it is felt that each resi
dent who can should and will be glad
to help.
These funds, the food and clothing
will be collected by the member on
the advisory board representing the
different organizations, from the
members willing to (join the Asso
ciated Charlies from his or her or
ganization. Among those not con
nected with either organization oth
er committees will work. All funds,
food and clothing will be turned ov- f
er to Mr. R. W. Gray, County Agri
cultural Agent, who has done such
notably fine work as chairman for
the Red Cross, and he will have sole
charge of the distribution of same.
Mr. Gray has been kind enough to
consent to handle this end of the
work in connection with his Red :
