Coming as a complete surprise t<
their many friends was the wedding
of Miss Loveda Lovingood to Mr
Haldrum Payne on Sunday morning
at the conclusion of the regular ser
vice at the Baptist Church. The couplt
entered together as Mrs. J. W
Davidson played from Lohengrin's
wedding march. They stood before the
altar, which was beautiful in its
adornment of dogwood blossoms and
honeysuckle, while Rev. J. C. Amnions
performed the marriage ceremony.
The cpuple left immediately
following. They will reside near the
Hiwassee Dam. where Mr. Payne is
employed.

Hike
The Hiking club, composed of various
members of the TV A Woman's
Club enjoyed a day at Hiwassee Dam
on Thursday. After lunch at the
Cafeteria, the afternoon was spent
walking, playing table tennis and
bridge. Those going on the "outing"

'Mrs. T. T. Lindsey was hostess to
the Woman's Guild of the Episcopal
Church at their regular meeting on
Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Granger led
the devotional.
During the social hour the hostess
served tea and sandwiches. Those

and her mother, Mrs. M. L. Britain
of Decatur, Ala., Mrs. James Pratt,

Baptist Missionary
J Society Meets
The regular meeting of the Baptist
Missionary Society was held on
Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 in the
, Ladies parlor of the church. The business
session was conducted by Mr3. A.
j E. Vestal, after which the general
theme, "In His Name Among All
t Nations, Beginning at Jerusalem",
was announced. "The Slave" was the
topic for the month. Preceding the ,
Bible Study, led by Mrs. Noah Lovingood,
Mrs. A. E. Vestal led the Lord's
prayer, after which Hymn No. 17 was
sung by the group. Following this j
Mrs. Vestal interestingly discussed ?
the topic, "The Slave", and gave a do- i
tailed discussion of 44 Gospel Begin- i
ning among the Slaves." i
After this, Mrs. Bessie Dcweese 1
talked on the American Slaves", 1
and Mrs. J. W. Davidson followed
with a description of "Our Work for
American Slaves."

The meeting was closed with the
singing of hymn No. 3711.
The circle meeting was changed ^
from the second to the fourth Tuesday
of each month, and the General
meeting from the fourth to the second.

night at 7:30 at the home of Miss

the program, emphasizing the theme

study being the book of Mark. After
