May of Hayesville. ? j Red Cross Campaign Makes Good Progress The Red Cross roll rail campaign in this area has brought In total proceeds of S284 00 in memberships and contributions to date, according to Mrs. C W. Savage, chairman. T: r drive, sponsored by the wo man': club. has not as yet been com pleted and workers are still making z good effort to raise the total. Those who want to contribute are s:ked to see either Mrs. Savage or Mr* T. A. Case. o Epidemic of Measles Strikes Local School An epidcmic of German measles in the ,'irrst and second grades of the Murphy schools will not cause the school to lose any time from closing. H. B ieck. superintendent said today due to the fact that the schools will close for the Christmas holidays Fri day. Outside of the first two grades. Bueck said, the disease has reached only a few persons In the school and all precautions are being taken to Prevent any spread. Pit zer and Miss Dickson. Miss Dickson's first and third graders have been finishing crayon ed luncheon cloths to present as Christmas presents In addition toys are being fashioned from the spools obtained from sewing thread. Sever al interesting creations irre on ex hibit in the school room In the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades emphasis has been plac ed on the carving of animals from wood to use a.-, presents to the par te nts al Yule !ime. The pupils are al so making Christmas cards and have joined in the finishing of the lunch eon cloths with crayons. Products of these interesting pro jects are to be on display all this week at the Grapi Creek school in the class rooms. Sccut Will Be Early For Chrisfn-?? In order that the annual Christ mas Greeting edition of the Scout w ill rrach everybody before Christ mas. next week's edition will be published on Tuesday instead of Thursday as is the custom. Each year one issue of the Scout just before* Christmas, is civrn over to the business people of the town for the purpose of issuing Christ mas greetings.
