snapped off and pinned him against

Two Farmers Enter
Demonstration Unit
Two new unit demonstration
farmers have been installed in
Cherokee county. A. Q. Ketner.
county agent, announced this week. J
They are Leonard Jones, of Liberty, j
and L. W. Shields, of Sunny Point.
Both Jones and Shields are using
a new type of phosphate, known as
fused rock phosphate, for demon
stration in legumes, pastures and
meadows. Jones secured 5.900 pounds
of phosphate through the program,
dnd Shields got 7.800 pounds.

Scouts* Prepared for Emergency# Service
Boy Scouts here and
throughout the country are
now training in Scoutcraft and
outdoor lore with new vigor
to be better prepared for any
sort of emergency- and dis
aster service. Scout troops
are forming units of Emer
gency Service Corps (see em
blem, upper right above) and
being trained in firefighting,
first aid,rescue work and other
service connected with emer
gencies caused by storms,
floods, hurricanes, earthquakes
and any type of catastrophe.
At camp and on hikes,
through games and other at
tractive activities of the regu
lar Scout program, they are
learning what to do in case
of crisis and how 13* fulfill
their promise to hcip other
people at all times. Through
demonstrations, displays and
exhibits, in cooperation with
established disaster relief
agencies, they are doing their
part to teach the American
people to be prepared. ' ?

Three Projects. . .

ing done under direction of Pred
Arrowood who is in charge of the
repair department, servicing about
20 school busses. The present garage
has only been in service for a year,
although the repair service has been
installed for two years.
The third project is the new NYA
building constructed near the other
two buildings. Latest in getting start
ed, this work has only advanced to
digging of foundations. The dimen
sions of this building wil be 96 feet
by 36 feet. About 40 NYA boys are
doing all the work of building under
direction of Bob Scroggs.
