Russells Return
To Murphy To Live
Dr. and Mrs. L. T. Russell and
son. Michael, have returned to
Murphy from Charlotte, where
Dr. Russell for the past two
months has specialized in surgery
of the mouth, jaws and face. Dr.
Russell says that he will be ready j
for business in his office here in I
a few days.
While in Charlotte Dr. Russell
was appointed to the active oral
surgery section of the medical
staff of Charlotte Memorial hos
pital and was in charge of dental
surgery clinics one day each week.

Services Sunday

which Hugh Creasman led the way
with t 17 point, total for the eve
ning.
The All-Stars met defeat Friday
at the hands of Font an a All -Stars
by a 30-27 count. Moore racked
up 17 points to lead the way for
Fontana while Guthrie with 11
and Creasman with 9 were out
standing for the Murphy aggrega
tion.
OVERSEAS
Cpl. Joe M. Withe row. son of
Mrs. Tilda Mae Parrish. joined
the army July 1942 and was sent
to Elgin Field. Fla. where he re
mained almost a year. He was
made corporal last spring.
He was formerly of Midway and
he is now overseas.

been mobilizing for the last two
months for more members. The
clubs honored the new members
by serving a Thanksgiving Dinner
during November, and by having
a Christmas party along with an
achievement day program during
December A total of 107 new mem

| Dewey Lloyd, of Murphy, arrived
home Dec. 31. to spend a furlough
! with his parents.
Lloyd was aboard a ship which
[ was recently torpedoed. He was
among the few who survived, and
| was in the water for more than
16 hours before he drifted to shore
on an island.
Lloyd is 19 years of age. and
joined the navy March 20. 1943.
He took his boot training at Bain
?bridge. Md.. and had naval aimed
?uard training at Little River.
Va. He was graduated from Mur
phy high school in the class of
1943.

There was a discussion of the
worship services the ministers
have been requested to render to
the prison camp every Sunday,

attendance would soon be ready
for erection on the public square
in Murphy. It is hoped that a
similar sign will soon bo ready for

some concerted effort by all
ahurohes to increase church at
tendance and loyalty, rn partic
ular was mentioned the movement
to get Christians to pray dally the
prayer: Father, let Thy will be
done through me."
