Tiie Andrews Pari n -Teacher association met In th high school auditorium, Tues day at 3 o'clock. Mrs. Tom Hay. p esUcnt. presided. A treasurer's report was made by Mrs. Tom Hay Also, reports were given by the I chairmen of the various commit- ' tees. Mrs. B yd Rcbinson, chair man of the membership commit tee, reported that 182 members now belong to the P. T. A. The P. T. A. will sponsor a drive foi clothing for Europe. Mrs. John Christy was appointed as chair man of the drive. The budget for the year was read j by Mrs. Hay. This will be approv- j ed at the next meeting. After the business was con cluded a program was given. Miss Catherine Hudson was in charge ' of the scripture reading. The I theme for the program was: I "Character Building a Community Responsiblity." The following were guest speakers: Mrs. Galusha j Pullium. "Character Building in J the Home"; Miss Eilzabeth Troxler, ' Character Building in the | School"; Rev. C. C. Washam, Character Building in the Church". The next meeting will be held January 8. Mrs. Aurelia Jordan and Miss j Jean Christy spent last week-end I in Asheville with relatives. Christmas Program Given At Auxiliary ?? ANDREWS ? The Auxiliary j circle of the Presbyterian church r1 r\, Wednesday evening. Decern- ] ber 12. at the home of Mrs. Tom ! Hay, president of the circle. She j presided over the meeting. A fin- ! ancial report was made by the treasurer. Miss Mildred Barker. A Joy Gift" collection. $10 45. was ir;,de which will be sent for minis terial relief. Mrs. Hay read a re quest that had been made for old clothing for the needy in Europe. Mrs. Pexgy Lail had charge of I he program which began with the group sinking Christmas carols. The topic for the month was "Be hold the Handmaid of the Lord". Mrs. Hay lei in prayer after which Miss Mildred Barker, and Miss Fannie Barker read the scripture telling of the birth of Jesus. The program ended with prayer by Mrs. Lail and "Joy to the World" by the group. At the conclusion of the pro gram gifts which had been placed under the lighted Christmas tree we: e opened. Also, tiny red stock ings hanging from the chimney which held nuts, candy and a gift were presented to each by the hostess, Mis. Hay. A game from " 'Twas the Night Before Christ mas" was played and enjoyed by all. Mis. Hay then served Santa Engagement Is Announced i ANDREWS ? Mrs. W. L.
