Proclamation
WHEREAS the disease of infantile paraly
sis rages in many cities of our nation every year,
leaving in its wake hundreds, even thousands,
of stricken men, women and children, many of
them crippled for life, and
WHEREAS the National Foundation for
Infantile Paralysis, by assuring care and treat
ment for all victims of poliomyelitis and by car
rying on its great program of research for the
prevention and possible cure of this virulent di
sease, has earned the overwhelming gratitude of
the American people, and
WHEREAS the March of Dimes, conducted
annually by the National Foundation will be
held January I 4 to 3 1 .
THEREFORE be it resolved that all
Murphy citizens are urged to cooperate with the
March of Dimes in Cherokee county, to deposit
their gifts in collection boxes set up by the Com
mittee, or to send them to: March of Dimes,
Murphy.

Mrs. Harry Queen
Passes Away
Mrs Harry Queen, age 71, passed
away ?it her home near Culberson.
Monday. January 14 Funeral ser
vices were held from the Mt. Zion
Baptist church. Tuesday January
15 with the Rev. Clarence Voyles
officiating. Burial was in the
church cemetery.
Mrs. Queen had been a member
of the Oak Grove Baptist church
for more than twenty five years.
Surviving besides her husband
are. one son Homer, and three
grand children.
Townson funeral home was in
chargc of arrangements.

Lovin J. Little, M M 2/c, son of
Efton Lee Little. Murphy, Rt 2.
has recently been discharged from
the Navy.
He served in the Navy for 72
months. 57 of which was sea duty.
He participated in 12 major engage
ments. 10 invasions, and has 12
battle stars. He received two Cap
tain's commendations.
His wife. Abbie Lee. resides in
Blairsvillc, Ga.

Mrs Dave Burrill. age 78. passed
way at her home at Unaka. Jan
uary U. Funeral services were
held from the home January 12
with the Rev. Sam Wolf officiating.
Furial was in Garrett cemetery
with Townson funeral home in
charge-.
Mrs. Burrill was one of the out
standing Christian women of her
section, and had been a member of
the Baptist church for around 60
years.
Surviving are one sister. Mrs.
Bradshaw; two brothers. William
and Posey Garrett, all of Towns
county Georgia.
