Murphy Lions Club
On The Occasion Of Its
20th Anniversary
For the past twenty years Murphy Lions club
has been a leading spirit in the progress and
growth of the Town of Murphy and in the preven
tion of blindness and aiding of the blind through
out Cherokee County.
Through some of the years of its history, the
club had a struggle to stay alive, and a handful
of its charter members stayed faithfully bv its
ideals and principles and brought it through to a
new day of usefulness and expansion.
Murphy Lions club has won numerous prizes
in the state convention contests, making this club
recognized as one of the outstanding clubs of
the state.
Some of the present projects which the club is
sponsoring or lending its support to are: Blind
work, including contribution toward the employ
ment of a caseworker for the blind, cooperation
in clinics, and otherwise assisting those who can
not see; health and welfare work; development
of the Murphy city park, making a large contri
bution to the building of a swimming pool.
There are now 50 members of the Murphy club,
and most all are active, attend the regular semi
monthly dinner meetings that are held at First
Methodist church, and cooperate in all activities
of the club.
