PAGE TWO Couple Hostesses To W.M.S. Circle Mrs. Cloe Moore and Mrs. W. A. Paper were associate hostesses Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Moore for the Lottie Moon circle of the Woman's Missionary society of First Baptist church. Mrs. Moore presided and open ed the meeting with prayer. Mrs. Henry Hyatt gave the devotional, and Mrs. Moore presented the sub ject, "Southern Baptist Looks at Home Missions." Prayer was offered by Mrs. J. Alton Morris. Mrs. C. W Arnold gave the topic, "Have We Whipped the ' World's Hunger?" This was followed by a business session at which the following of ficers were elected: Mrs. J. D. Burch, secretary-treas urer; Mrs. J. B. Hall, chairman of community missions; Mrs. Ed Bar nett. enlistment chairman; Mrs. C. W. Arnold, stewardship chairman; Mrs. J. B Mulkey, literature chair man; Mrs. J. B Hall, Mission study chairman. Mrs. Hall offered the closing prayer, after which the hostesses served refreshments to 13 mem bers, and a social hour was held. January 23. a meeting of Girl Scout leaders and mothers of prospective members was held with the 7th and 8th grade girls of the Texana scfeool at the school house. Miss El ma Dennis opened the meeting with singing America and a repetition of the Lord's Prayer by the group She introduced the guests, Mrs. Ed Brumby, Miss Mary Rule, and Sister Hetherington. Mrs. Brumby spoke on "A Moth er's View of the Girl Scout Move ment and Sister Hetherington ex plained the organization Girl ScoulJ. Parents of prospective members expressed their interest in having their daughters members of the Girl Scouts. And those girls who were ready to pay their dues regist cd in the organization. The next meeting will be under the leader ship of Miss El ma Dennis at 7:00 1 M. February 6 at the Texana school. Mrs. Huffman Is Guild Hostess WDREWS ? The regular J monthly meeting of the Wesleyan Guild was held at the home of Mrs. Charles Huffman on Monday. An investiture ceremony was held at the meeting of Girl Scout Troop No. 1 which was held last j Wednesday afternoon. Jan. 22. ' Members taken in were Ollie Beal | md Betty Jim Davis. A business meeting was held to ' decide on the Girl Seout camp. Kaeh Girl Scout acted out one of the 10 laws. Those present were: Jane Bren- , die. Betty Sue Swaim. Ollie Beal. Jane Sneed. Win Half Holiday ANDREWS ? Mrs. Enloes sec tion of the third grade won the one-half holiday for the highest percent of attendance in the pri mary department for the fifth month. This section had a per centage of 95.73. In the grammar grade depart ment, Miss Hamilton's section of the fifth grade won the one-half holiday for the same period with a percentage of 97.65. Baptist Circle Has Meeting Circle No. 1 of the Baptist W. M. Lr. met Friday evening in the home of Mrs. Clyde Townson with Mrs. Max Sneed serving as co-hostess. Mrs. Bill Gentry, president, pre sided and opened the meeting by reading the 23rd Psalm. The topic of the program was "Why Does India Need Christiani ty0" Scripture was read by Mrs. Kathleen Haggard; others taking part were, Mrs. Allie Sigmon, Mrs. Juanita Weaver. Mrs. Virginia Townson. Mrs. Pauline Brittain, and Mrs. Louise Recce. Mrs. Merle Davis read an inter esting letter from the Rev. A. C. Kennedy, one of the missionaries in China. The Lord's prayer by the group closed the program. Re freshments were served to 19 mem bers present and a social hour was | c n joyed.
